I think changing

/etc/gitconfig

to

[path]/etc/gitconfig

or similar would make more sense.

Sure, will do. I'm still reading the book, is there an online tutorial (
or are their directions on the github ) you can suggest on how to do this
or is it easy.

You can actually do this entirely in the browser.

1. Find the place in the source code where you want to make the change (you're already in the right repository). For this issue you'd want this file.
2. Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) at the top-right of the file's contents. This will fork the repo into your user space, so you have your own copy.
3. Make the change you want to, and commit it using the button down at the bottom.
4. Navigate to your fork, and notice the green button at the top. GitHub noticed that you made changes, and you might want to create a pull request. Click the button.
5. Review your changes, add a description, and click "Submit." Be sure to include "Closes Path for system configuration is not accurate ... #506" in your description, it'll link back here.
