Can I simply do a 'git clone' in my PlatformIO lib folder to update to the latest files?

It depends on how you installed this library:

• If you used lib_deps w/o specifiying the version you will need to clean first.
• If you specified the version you would need to change the version number.
• If you downloaded the project/files physicalliy with git clone into your project, you would need to do a git pull...

No lib_deps. I use the lib folder in PlatformIO.
I deleted the existing [arduino-audio-tools] subfolder and did a git clone https://github.com/pschatzmann/arduino-audio-tools from a command prompt.
No problems after compiling, my audio player seems to be fine with it. ;)
