Feature request: native support for `abstract-to-meta.lua` filter?

It's not uncommon that conferences/journals ask for an abstract as a submission, so treating it as a single child document of a paper can be quite helpful. This can be achieved by using two Lua filters: include-files.lua and abstract-to-meta.lua. I believe work is already under way to support child documents natively. Would it be possible to also add native support for abstract-to-meta?

Exactly this one. Is it already somehow available be default? Sorry, some of this is still quite new to me 😄

No it is not included, like includes, using the external file. So currently, doing the same with abstract-to-meta.lua seems the way to go.

Maybe while working on journals template feature, we could consider adding this one by default. But creating custom formats should allow to add some lua filters in the mix, so this would be added into journals template.
@dragonstyle include lua filter in custom format bundles should be possible right ?

You're exactly right, @cderv, format extensions will include the ability to bundle filters (and specify them in the document front matter), so it would be say to embed a filter like this for a specific format that requires it, though 'abstract hoisting' might make a nice feature addition to the general Quarto feature set as well. I'll put that on the list for consideration!
