Releases: rednafi/rexdiff

v0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@rednafi rednafi released this 30 Oct 06:46

This release changes only the source comments. rexdiff works as before. Your settings, keys and flags do not change.

Upgrade

Run brew upgrade --cask rexdiff, or press U in rexdiff when the bottom line shows the new version.

Changes

  • The code keeps only the comments that say why. They use short, simple sentences.
  • The comments in rexdiff_toggle.lua, which rexdiff writes to your Rex config, are shorter.

v0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@rednafi rednafi released this 29 Oct 17:58
9711408

rexdiff is now fast on very large diffs, gives the diff more room, and stays usable on any input. Your settings, keys and flags work as before.

Upgrade

Run brew upgrade --cask rexdiff, or press U in rexdiff when the bottom line shows the new version.

New

  • The full path of the file shows above the diff.
  • The left arrow key closes an open fold.
  • The file list is narrower, and the separator, gutter and change bar are thinner. The footer has no rule above it.
  • A file over 2 MB or 50,000 lines shows file too large to show. A binary file shows binary file. If more than 20,000 files change, rexdiff shows their number.

Changes

  • Diffs come from a new diff engine. They match git, also for large rewrites.
  • Large files open at once. rexdiff draws only the lines on screen and colours them in the background.
  • Reloads after an edit are faster, also in pull requests of 2,000 files.
  • Very long lines, slow syntax rules, and very large or deeply nested Markdown show as plain text or source. The screen stays responsive.
  • The PR tab counts every check and names the failed ones.
  • A review over 64 KB goes to the agent in parts. Use y for a review over 256 KB.
  • The -log file is private to you, and holds no text that you type.

Fixes

  • You can scroll through a wrapped line that is taller than the pane.
  • ] and [ step past removed blocks in rendered Markdown.
  • Invisible and bidirectional characters in names and code show as <U+XXXX>.
  • A pasted CRLF gives one line break, and the comment box scrolls after a paste.
  • The Files tab drops files that you delete.
  • A file that is created and deleted around a reload leaves the list.
  • -check checks -scope and -layout.
  • ctrl+f opens the find bar on a binary or too large file.
  • Very small panes and overlays draw correctly.
  • Many smaller fixes, plus a step-by-step end-to-end script for a real Rex (test/e2e.sh).

v0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@rednafi rednafi released this 26 Oct 17:58
8a03554

rexdiff now behaves like herdr-reviewr in most places, and it has new review features.

Upgrade

Run brew upgrade --cask rexdiff. At the first start, rexdiff moves your v0.2.7 settings to the new layout:

  • ~/.config/rex/rexdiff.lua keeps your settings. rexdiff does not write over it again.
  • ~/.config/rex/rexdiff_toggle.lua holds the toggle action. rexdiff writes this file at each upgrade.

If the action has an error, the rest of your init.lua still loads.

New

  • Changed lines get a coloured bar and a light background, as on GitHub. Set diff_signs to see + and - again. (#3)
  • Long runs of unchanged lines fold away. The right arrow key or a click opens a fold. (#2)
  • Terminal editors such as nvim open in a Rex pane beside rexdiff, and $EDITOR works. (#4)
  • In the rendered Markdown view (m), you can comment on a block. Changed blocks get the bar, and a marker row shows a change that does not render or a removed block.
  • A mouse drag copies only the text that you drag. A click on a link opens it.
  • On the PR tab, the right and left arrow keys open and close <details> blocks. o opens the pull request in the browser.
  • The direction setting opens the split to the right or below.
  • The base picker (B) lists the newest branches first, and tags the PR base, the default branch, and the current base.

Changes

  • In the agent picker, a digit moves the highlight. Only Enter sends.
  • Code search matches case if the query has a capital letter.
  • A change of only the line ending (CRLF and LF) now shows, with a ^M mark.
  • PR comments show their age, for example 3h. The PR tab shows at most 100 checks.
  • o and link clicks open only http and https links. The opener runs with no shell.
  • The mouse wheel scrolls the file list and the search preview, and does not move the cursor.
  • -wrap takes on or off.
  • The old herdr-reviewr key names list-wider, list-narrower, and preview work.

Fixes

  • A slow git no longer freezes the screen at the start or the end of an agent turn.
  • An edit that you save while a send runs is no longer lost.
  • The branch scope works when origin/HEAD points to a deleted branch, and in a repository with no commits.
  • Sideways scroll is faster.
  • Many smaller fixes, plus new end-to-end tests and docs.
