Ghostty 1.4 support: the designer sets the options Ghostty 1.4.0 adds and is tested with both Ghostty 1.3.1 and 1.4.0.

Features

  • Balance padding offers Equal, which centres the grid on all four sides (Ghostty 1.4)
  • The Splits section sets when the split drag handle shows (Ghostty 1.4)
  • On Linux, the Window section can put each tab's close button at its start (Ghostty 1.4)

Options a Ghostty version does not have stay hidden, so Ghostty 1.3.1 shows the same panel as before.

Fixes

  • The font size note says that terminals zoomed with the font size keys keep their size, except on macOS, where the designer resets their zoom
  • Cursor height notes that it has no effect before Ghostty 1.4

Install

brew install reemus-dev/tap/ghostty-designer   # macOS

npm install -g ghostty-designer                # macOS and Linux

On Linux, install the .deb or .rpm below, or the tarball after the runtime libraries. The README lists the commands.

It needs Ghostty 1.3.1 or later, and macOS 15 or later, or glibc 2.34 or later (Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, Fedora 35), on arm64 or x86_64. It is tested with Ghostty 1.3.1 and 1.4.0.

The macOS app is not notarized yet. Homebrew, mise and npm installs run it as is. To open a manually downloaded app, try it once, then click Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
