We're excited to announce the release of MMDD Version 4!

Here are the changes:

Added

• Three Document Types: Units now support three document types for better organization:
  • <sequence>_<unitname>.md - Plan (default, backwards compatible)
  • <sequence>_<unitname>_test.md - Test instructions
  • <sequence>_<unitname>_done.md - Completion context
• New templates for test and done documents
• Document Types section explaining the purpose of each type
• Subunit support for all three document types

Changed

• One-Word Unit Names: Unit names must now be one word, lowercase (e.g., 01_auth instead of 01_user_authentication)
• Updated all examples to use single-word unit names
• Workflow updated to incorporate test and done files in steps 3, 4, and 5
• File organization examples now show all three document types

Fixed

• Corrected filename references from 00_mdd.md to 00_mmdd.md throughout documentation

Migration Guide

Version 4 is backwards compatible with v3 projects:

• Existing plan files (.md) work without changes
• Adopt new document types incrementally as needed
• One-word unit names recommended for new units, but not required for existing ones
