Amazon Services

Wick is built on Amazon's devices, its doorbell and its cloud. This page maps each service to the job it does and where it lives in the repository.

Devices and Alexa+

Used for
Vega OS The resident's app, in React Native for Vega. A headless service shows the door over other apps; media controls make a platform pause count as a natural break; w3cmedia plays the films and the door's live view; Content Personalization is told what she watches as she watches it.
Fire OS The same source through four small adapters, with an Android foreground service for the door, and her film as Android's MediaSession, so "Alexa, pause" and the remote's media keys go through the same rules as on Vega.
Ring Partner API OAuth link, webhooks, recorded frames and live view. Live view is WebRTC, bridged to HLS for the television.
Alexa+ MCP An MCP server with 25 tools. The add-on surface is partner-only, so a simulated Alexa+ app calls it, as the rules allow.

Models and agents

Used for
Amazon Bedrock, Nova Lite Describes the door's picture in one sentence.
Amazon Bedrock, Claude Sonnet 4.5 The family's assistant, and the Sunday brief, written from numbers already counted.
Bedrock Guardrail Denied topics, PII and contextual grounding against the counted facts, checking the assistant and the brief.
Bedrock AgentCore Runtime Three agents. The door's work runs as Strands graphs, one session per household.
Bedrock AgentCore Memory The family assistant's conversations, and what it remembers of the member's own words.
Strands Agents The door graph, the assistant (with interrupts that pause for the member's yes), and the Sunday brief graph: analyst, writer, check, suggester.
Amazon Rekognition Measures the calm points in each film, and moderates family pictures.
Amazon Polly Reads a card aloud when she presses Play.
Amazon Translate Translates free text, such as a note's words, into her language after the English checks have passed.
Amazon Transcribe Turns a family member's spoken question into words. Nothing is kept.

The AWS stack

Used for
AWS Lambda 26 functions: the Ring webhook, pairing, the television's events, the door, card actions, the narrator, the live-view bridge and more.
API Gateway An HTTP API for the Ring webhook and pairing, and a WebSocket API for the television's fallback channel.
AWS IoT Core The television's first-choice channel: MQTT over WebSocket, with a custom authorizer that checks the device token.
Amazon EventBridge and Scheduler The event bus wick, and the three-minute wait of Hold for Sarah.
AWS Step Functions A visit errand runs for days as one execution.
Amazon SQS The Sunday brief's fan-out, one message per home, with dead-letter queues.
AWS App Runner The Wick server: MCP, OAuth 2.1, the family app's API and the Guardian, in one container.
Amazon Cognito Family sign-in.
Amazon DynamoDB One table, wick, for everything.
Amazon S3 and CloudFront The family app, the browser television, the films, door pictures and family pictures, with lifecycle rules that delete in a day.
AWS Secrets Manager One Ring token secret per household, the pairing signing key and push keys.
Amazon CloudWatch and SNS Alarms, mailed to the owner.
AWS Budgets A budget action that attaches a deny policy to the model-calling roles at 100%.
Terraform and GitHub Actions over OIDC All infrastructure as code; deploys with no static AWS keys.
