Try It

No account and no hardware are needed. This takes about five minutes.

Disclaimer: her television in a browser tab is for quick testing only. Wick is a Fire TV app: judge it on the Vega Virtual Device or the Fire OS build in the Android TV emulator, as we did (Deployment), or on a Fire TV. We ran it on a real Fire TV Stick 4K Select.

The five steps

  1. Open her television. d2sbabcft8sm3m.cloudfront.net/tv.html shows a six-digit code and a QR code. The keyboard is the remote:

    Key Remote
    Arrow keys Move
    Enter OK
    Esc or Backspace Back
Space or P Play / Pause, and reads the card on screen aloud
Enter, held for two seconds Hold for Sarah
  2. Open the family app. dmaz25jvryojp.cloudfront.net. Choose Try the demo and enter the code from the television, or point a phone at the QR code. You are Sarah, in a demo home with six weeks of simulated history. Each press of Try the demo is a new session with its own guest and home, so nothing from anyone else's session is shown. The header names yours, for example Demo home K7F2QX.

  3. Allow Sarah, on the television. About twenty seconds after pairing, press Allow Sarah. This is the consent step: nobody can read a household until she allows them with one press on her own television. Then ask the family app anything, for example "How has my mum been this week?"

  4. Send a note. Start a film on the television, then ask the family app to send a note to her television. The note waits. Pause, or let Big Buck Bunny reach its calm point at 1:29, and it appears over the film, which holds. Space reads it aloud. Enter replies.

  5. Ring the stand-in doorbell. In the family app press Ring the stand-in doorbell and choose who is there. The door card appears at once and the film waits under it, then the picture and one sentence about it. Esc or Not now puts it away and the film goes on. If the card goes by itself while she is at the door, the film stays paused for her. The stand-in rings at most once every 20 seconds.

Things to look for

  • A note never arrives in the middle of a scene.
  • The door card comes over anything, and nothing else does.
  • The family app says plainly what is simulated. The history is marked, and so is the doorbell.
  • Ask the family app about her health or money. It refuses, and the refusal looks like any failed answer.
  • Ask "Is everything alright at mum's?" Wick only tells Sarah what Margaret has chosen to tell her.
  • Switch the language in the family app. Nothing changes on the television until Margaret says yes on her own screen.

On a simulator

The same flow runs on the Vega Virtual Device and on the Fire OS build in the Android TV emulator. The steps are in Deployment and docs/SETUP.md.

Run it on your own computer

nvm use && npm ci
npx vite-node -c vitest.config.ts services/mcp-server/src/__tests__/devServer.ts

That starts the real Wick server on 127.0.0.1:3300 over an in-memory store, with the family app on 127.0.0.1:4173. No AWS is needed. See the Developer Guide.
