Is there any way to make Inter downloads smaller?

I love Inter, but if I use the configuration that’s recommended, it loads something like 300kb of font files. Maybe that’s not a big deal when you’re working on a 5MB SPA, but when I’m working on an indie web project that weighs in at less than 100kb, it’s a major deal.

Is there such thing as an “Inter lite” configuration?
