Below is an example of the kind of plot made by Fast Track. All plots are spectrograms of a sound file, with formant frequencies indicated using points of different colors.

Hollow points indicate observed formant frequencies, filed points indicate formant frequencies predicted using the linear models. When only a single track is visible that means the model was able to predict formants with good accuracy. Single image files show one analysis, usually the winning or final analysis.

Comparison images compare all analyses of a single sound file in a single image. Analyses are ordered top to bottom, left to right in number and increasing cutoff frequency. Information about the actual cutoff frequencies is available in the info files for a folder analysis, or in the info window for analysis of a single sound.

The automatically-determined winner is indicated by extra boxes. The user can use this information by selecting a better analysis in the winners.csv file, or to get a feel for how the analysis would look under slightly different analysis conditions.
