Run Frontier in VMWare?

I am running the OPML Editor which is a distribution of Frontier on a Mac running MacOS 10.13.6. Works fine. I'm afraid to update this computer in any way, because I don't know what Apple is going to do to it. I use Frontier to write my JavaScript code, and also to keep around as an archive for about 20 years of work, that's still unmatched elsewhere. Anyway I had a thought. Why not run Frontier inside VMWare, using 10.13.6, and then I could run it on any Mac? I think this would work and I could stop worrying about Apple breaking my work environment.

Have you thought of getting into Docker and containers?

If you could get the OPML editor running in a container that would be a good way to ensure it has somewhere to run for a while.

If I remember rightly I used to be able to run the Windows OPML Editor on Linux with Wine. And you could make a fairly small lightweight container of those.

I think running the Mac version in VMWare is a better answer for now, for a couple of reasons.

1. I have it running. ;-)

2. I've been using the Mac version for most of the time I've used Frontier. For the last 16 years, exclusively. It's familiar, already have systems set up.

Can you think of any advantages of running it in a container on Linux? Can you even run containers on non-headless machines?

I've never run a GUI application in a docker container, but a little web searching suggests that it is possible. I have run the Windows build of OPML Editor using Wine on Linux. While it technically works, it's very buggy.
