  • Nothing is playing.
    See the Troubleshooting page.
  • I can’t change the volume for YouTube videos.
If you are not using gm_chrome, you must ensure that JavaScript is enabled for Internet Explorer and you also have to click the “Re-initialize Player” button on the “Settings” panel after changing the volume.
  • I crash when a video is played.
If you crash every time, then you are part of a handful of people that have this problem. Unfortunately, no fix is immediately available. YouTube may also crash you if played in the Steam overlay if you are one of these people.
  • I can’t spawn the models except for one, or I can’t move the players except for one model.
Counterstrike: Source (CS:S) must be installed on the server.
  • Does this cause server lag?
No. PlayX consumes no server CPU and no server bandwidth while a video is playing. A few messages are sent to fetch metadata and sync clients when a video is played, when a client joins, and when a video is stopped, but nothing else is sent. The lag you (and others) may experience is due to either graphical lag (caused by not having gm_chrome) or your own bandwidth saturation (caused by an insufficient Internet connection rate).
  • Can I play a movie file that I have?
You need to have a web server to host files on, dynamic scripting support (PHP, etc.) to make resuming work, and the file must be in a supported format. All of this is fairly complicated, but if you are interested, please talk to sk89q. An alternative solution is to host a Flash streaming server, but that is a complex matter as well.
  • How often does PlayX crash the client?
Exceptionally rarely with the newest version. However, there are a handful of people that will always crash every time in PlayX and even in the Steam overlay. For that group of people, PlayX’s crash detection will disable PlayX on next run so that they don’t continue to crash.
