Create case package for export or backup

At least one other product in this field now has the capability to create a case package - a single compressed file that contains all data sources and the processed case data (with whatever work, such as bookmarks, that the analyst has already completed). This would be a nice feature for training purposes (using the same processed case multiple times) or for backup purposes. In either case, this enables moving a single file to a new machine in order to continue analysis at a given point.

Does this approach require you to copy the image into the case folder or does it make the single package by copying the image from where it was before and updating internal references to where it can be found?

This seems like it could be achieved by ZIPing up the case directory. THe only tricky part is the image file and updating its references to that opening up the case in the future knows where to find it.

No copying required. Creating the package "finds" the all data sources / images wherever they are.

This creates a foolproof, "push here dummy" approach to making a working copy of a case file to include the underlying images.

Yes - agreed what the tricky part is (the references). However, I think solving that tricky part is the ultimate value. When you create the package and move it to another box, it works - without the risk or stress that a data source is missing or a reference is incorrect.
