0.9.1 — Hide the page arrows
- Option to hide the page arrows. Under Paddle behavior on the Settings page, Show page arrows on paging paddle slots (on by default) can be turned off to leave the slots of a paddle that pages the crossbar empty on all four panels, for when you know your paging paddles by heart. The paddle still pages, in combat too. The setting is account-wide and can be changed in combat.
0.9.0 — Crossbar paging
-
Controller profile. Backhand now recognises which paddle controller is connected: Xbox Elite (four paddles), DualSense Edge (two back buttons) or a generic controller. It reads the active controller's vendor and product IDs and name, and updates when a controller is connected, disconnected or switched, without a reload. Nothing changes on screen yet; the profile is groundwork for controller-specific layouts. Steam Input and some drivers hide the real controller, so the Settings page has a Controller button (Auto, Xbox Elite, DualSense Edge, Generic) and
/backhand controller [auto|elite|edge|generic]sets it from chat. Changing it never touches paddle keys or actions./backhand diagshows the controller's name, IDs, label style and the resolved profile (#2). -
Native button states on paddle slots. Paddle slots now show the same states as the native crossbar buttons: the selected ring while a spell waits for a target or a toggle (stance, aura, tradeskill) is active, the red flash while Auto Attack or Auto Shot is running, and the green border on equipped items. A macro shows the state of the spell or item it currently casts. Works for native-storage slots and fallback slots. In combat the game may hide these states from addons; a hidden state shows as off (#9).
-
Spell charges and loss-of-control cooldowns. Paddle slots now show the same cooldowns as the native crossbar buttons: the charge count and the moving recharge edge for charge-based spells, and the red loss-of-control swipe while you are stunned, silenced or locked out of a spell school. A lockout that outlasts the normal cooldown replaces it, like on the native buttons. Fallback slots holding a spell now show its charge or use count too. Works for native-storage slots and fallback slots (#10).
-
Page the crossbar with a paddle. Each paddle now has a behavior: its Backhand actions (the default, so nothing changes until you pick something else), or the previous or next native crossbar page. Set it under Paddle behavior on the Settings page or with
/backhand paddle [1-4] [actions|prev|next]. Navigation paddles click the crossbar's own page button through hidden secure buttons, the same path as the nativeLB + RB + Left / Rightchord, so they work in combat and on every layer (bare, LT, RT, LT + RT). Their slots show only the native left or right arrow icon and page the crossbar when clicked as well; the actions in them are kept for when the paddle goes back to Backhand actions. On every page change, the native chord included, the new page number shows above the crossbar and fades out. The paddles wrap past the special S page (the pet / possess bar page), also in combat./backhand diaglists each paddle's behavior and the current crossbar page, and the action bar page, which must stay at 1: any other page shifts every native crossbar button by one bar (#16). -
The addon icon and logo are the new SNRN badge.
0.8.2 — Proc glow
- Proc glow on paddle slots. When a proc lights up a spell (spell activation overlay), the paddle slot holding that spell, or a macro that casts it, now shows the same animated glow as the native crossbar buttons. It uses Blizzard's own spell alert template at the native size, follows the slot as the panel expands and collapses, and clears when the proc ends or the slot's action changes. Like the native buttons, only real procs glow: reactive abilities such as Mongoose Bite do not. The glow also works in combat, where the proc state is hidden from addons. One exception: a macro with conditionals (
[mod],[stance],;alternatives,/castsequence) cannot glow while the game hides which spell it is about to cast. Works for native-storage slots and fallback slots./backhand glowtestshows the glow on every filled slot, and/backhand diaglists the recent proc events and what each slot resolves to (#8). - Backhand is listed under the SNRN category in the AddOns list, next to the other SNRN addons.
0.8.1 — Panels collapse in menus
- Panels collapse when a menu has gamepad focus, like the native crossbar. Opening the game menu, bags, settings or any other controller-navigable window used to leave the selected paddle panel expanded. Backhand now follows the same check the crossbar uses (only the core gameplay bindings are active), so the panel collapses, its focus background, button prompts and LT / RT prompt hide, and it expands again when focus returns. The selected layer and the paddle bindings do not change.
/backhand diagshows "Native crossbar focused" and "Visual expanded" (#5).
