[Bug?] Error trying to stash files

I am getting this error when I try to stash some files. If I add the files to the stage area and then stash them it works.

Is this the standard way of handling the stashing process?

What's your git version? It seems that git >= 2.13 won't meet this error.

Thank you for the quick response! My current Git version is git version 2.43.0.windows.1. The sourcegit version is the last one (2025.03) and I am using Windows 11 PRO in this version

I tried 2.43.0.windows.1 (MinGit) and 2.47.1.windows.1 (Full) , and cannot reproduce this.

I think I used this installer https://gitforwindows.org/ but I don't remember the setting that I selected during the setup

Did you set stash message, or some quotes in your filename?

I just re-checked and the error seems to happens when the files are new in the repo (in this case the images). When I stash the modified README.md it just works fine
