Description
From u-blox:
PointPerfect Flex MQTT Protocol End of Life Notification - MQTT will be switched off on September 30th, 2026.
What do I need to do?
If you don't use PointPerfect, or you get your RTCM corrections from another service, there's nothing you need to do.
If you have a device that currently uses PointPerfect MQTT, you will need to make the following changes:
- Make sure your device has firmware v2.2 or later. Please see the releases page for the latest version.
- Change your PointPerfect service from Flex MQTT (Deprecated) to Flex NTRIP/RTCM. See docs here.
- Contact us with the device ID (here's how to find it) so that we can move your device over to this new service. This can take a day or two so please plan accordingly.
- Once everything is moved, the device will successfully obtain NTRIP credentials over WiFi and automatically populate and enable the NTRIP Client on the device. The device will re-use the WiFi connection previously provided for MQTT based corrections and the device will achieve an RTK Fix when connected to WiFi and the device is located in the contiguous US, Europe, and parts of the south pacific and Brazil (see the coverage map here).
The benefit to switching to PointPerfect NTRIP/RTCM is that it is a different, more accurate model than the original MQTT service. We've seen most RTK Fix times goes from minutes to a few seconds with similar horizontal accuracy. It's very good.
What if I don't switch?
After September of 2026, any device still attempting to use MQTT will likely be unable to connect to the service and will not be able to obtain corrections. The RTK device is still completely usable, you will just need to use a different provider or source of corrections to get an RTK Fix.
