Missing migration path, stuck in v0.8.6

We are currently using pgstac v0.8.6 and try to upgrade to the latest version.

While the migration path seems to exist for v0.8.5 to v0.9.0, the migration from v0.8.6 fails with the error message Exception: Could not determine path to get from 0.8.6 to 0.9.2.

I'm running into this issue as well. I've tried with different minor v0.9 versions and they all fail in the same way. There doesn't appear to be a way to upgrade from 0.8 to 0.9 currently.

@pcaisse @sreimond-eodc have you installed the desired version (e.g. 0.9.5) of pypgstac in the environment from which you are triggering the migration? The migration paths are added to each new version of pypgstac but if you are running an old version like 0.8.6 it won't be aware of the migration path for a newer version.

Yes, verified via:

$ pip freeze | grep pypgstac
pypgstac==0.9.5

I also see this in the log output prior to the error being thrown:

INFO:     2025-04-07 12:03:56 | pypgstac.migrate | Migrating from 0.8.6 to 0.9.5.

I see now that 0.8.6 is completely missing from the migrations. I suspect it was never generated on main because 0.8.6 was a patch release after the 0.9.0 release. I will look into our options for adding the 0.8.6-0.9.0 migration script. cc @bitner

We have merged the new migration path to main - it will be available in the next release of pgstac (0.9.6).
