Ablity to draw Plots

Jupyter notebook can draw plots when using python. Why doesn't the Plot class work?

when you render it, that could be used as an actual element.

@RGFTheCoder The reason is that this is a browser only kernel backed by stdlib, not by the backend Python kernel. So the common Python APIs, including magics, etc, are unlikely to be available.

stdlib provides a plot API, but I'd need to spend some time to figure out whether it works smoothly in this POC.

If I run plot.render('html') it just shows text. Maybe you could make an output function that appends html to the end of the current block?

@RGFTheCoder I think it could be possible to avoid appending HTML if the MIME type was correctly set:

(e.g., text/html). I am not sure, however, how we'd know, a priori, the MIME type for a given output.

I suppose it may be possible to wrap certain known function APIs to not only return the function result, but also the result's MIME type. That MIME type could then be used to generate the kernel message.

There could be a general html(code: String) function that responds with code as the output, but with the text/html mime applied. Then you could run html(plot.render('html')) to plot it.

Do you think there could be a way to do html output through the "stream" message type that gets used for stdout? So that, for example, you could sequentially print lines or portions of html? (By the way, changing the type for the execute_result message type works perfectly).
