How to use the self-test

min_frame_interval should be slightly larger than the render time reported by the self-test (set self-test as a url parameter in the YAML).

Can you explain how to do this? I have tried adding ?self-test=true to my own URLs and to localhost and other URLs but I am not seeing the self test page.

Set url: "self-test" in the YAML.
I've just added this to the example in the README.

Ah gotcha - I was thinking of querystring / url search parameters, but the URL should literally be set to self-test. Seems to work :) Thx

Oh one last question - if I get a result like so...
Partial: 6 (157ms)
Full: 1 (1027ms)

Should min_frame_interval be based on the partial? Eg, 160?

There isn’t a single right answer; ideally, it should be slightly bigger than a full update time.

What device are you using? The rendering performance seems rather slow...

Using a config I found elsewhere and tweaked for my purposes here:

I am not sure how to better optimize, but yes it does seem a bit slow. All of my devices seem slower than I had hoped given how well the factory demos work

Is the self-test affected by the settings that it helps identify? In other words, should I remove settings such as these before running it, or will it matter?

Still messing around but I got things into a better state by changing display drivers.

Partial: 111 (9ms)
Full: 16 (62ms)

I read that mipi_spi is replacing the one I was using, and there's a preset for my model built-in now:

Still playing around but this is promising

1. Yes, self-test uses all parameters, including min_frame_interval (however, as we measure only rendering time, it shouldn't have a significant impact)
2. Those are much better results.
