DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.6
DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.6.0
Report a bug, built in. App settings → Something not right? → Report a bug… collects the details a fix needs (app and sync-engine versions, how it was installed, your distribution, desktop and kernel, the sync engine's recent status lines) and shows you the whole report before anything leaves your computer. File names, your email, user and computer names and sign-in details are left out, and you can edit or delete anything in it. Then open a pre-filled GitHub issue, copy it, or save it as a file. The app sends nothing by itself. From a terminal: drivedeck --report-bug.
Search OneDrive from the GNOME overview (deb and rpm packages). Off by default; switch it on in App settings. Typing in the overview then finds your files by name and by content, and opens them. What you type is sent to Microsoft only while the switch is on.
The tray hears about updates sooner. When the window finds a new version, the tray menu offers Update to version X now straight away instead of waiting for its own daily look, and drops the offer again if the release is withdrawn.
Updating: click Update now in the tray menu or the window.

DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.5.1
Fixed: KRunner search now finds your files by name straight away. Microsoft's search can miss files it hasn't indexed yet, so a search for a file you know is there could come back empty. Names in your synced folders are now searched on this computer first, and Microsoft's results (matches inside documents, files that aren't on this computer) follow, without duplicates.
Updating: on 1.5.0, click Update now in the tray menu or the window. On 1.0, download the file for your system below; after that, updates are one click.
See New in 1.5.0 for everything in this big update.

DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.5
DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.5.0
A big update: it tells you when syncing has quietly stopped, it warns you before trouble starts, there are new things to do from your file manager, and the app is now in 11 languages.
Updating from 1.0: download the file for your system below and install it as before. With the AppImage, replace your old file. With the .deb or .rpm, open it with your software installer, or use sudo apt install ./drivedeck_1.5.0_amd64.deb or sudo dnf install ./drivedeck-1.5.0-1.x86_64.rpm. The tray icon restarts on the new version by itself. From now on, updates are one click: Update now in the tray menu or the window.
New
- Tells you when syncing has quietly stopped. If the sync engine keeps running but goes silent
for more than half an hour (a stuck network call, say), the app restarts it once by itself. If
that doesn't help, the account shows Not responding in red and you get a notification, instead
of looking "up to date" for days. - Fixes a hidden limit on big folders. Linux limits how many folders can be watched for changes,
and when it runs out, changes in some folders are missed without any error. The app notices,
explains, and offers to raise the limit (one password prompt). - Folder sizes, and a free-space check. The folder list shows how big each folder is, and says
whether what you've just ticked will fit on the drive before you apply it. - Warnings that save you trouble. Git repositories inside OneDrive (syncing their
.gitfolders
can damage them) and OneDrive folders on a Windows drive that Windows' own OneDrive app may also
use. Add developer folders… in Options skips.git,node_modulesand the like in two clicks. - Check for problems in App settings (or
drivedeck --doctor): the sync engine, the tray, each
account, free disk space, the folder-watch limit and services set up elsewhere, in one list.
Make a problem report writes a file for a bug report with your file names, email address, user
and computer names and sign-in details left out. - See who can open a file, and stop it. Right-click a file or folder, OneDrive, Who has
access… lists every link and person, and Stop sharing ends one. - Edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the web from the same menu (no Office needed).
- A safety copy before a full resync. On btrfs and XFS the app first copies your OneDrive folder
in an instant (no extra space until files change), and says where. - Keeps the sync engine up to date, not just installed. It notices new releases from the
client's own authors, not only the AUR, and shows their important note (for example "the first
sync will take a long time") before you update. - Search OneDrive from KRunner (Plasma's Alt+Space). Finds files by name or content, including
ones that aren't on this computer. Off until you switch it on, because what you type is sent to
Microsoft. - Screenshots saved straight to OneDrive. A switch in App settings points Spectacle or
Flameshot at a folder in your OneDrive, and puts their setting back when you switch it off. - Updates in one click. When a new version is out, Update now (in the tray menu or the window)
downloads it, checks it against the release's checksums and puts it in place; the tray restarts on
it by itself. AppImages update without a password; .deb and .rpm installs ask once. AUR users
update through the AUR as before. - Errors in plain words. When Microsoft can't be reached or reports a problem, the status says
so in a sentence instead of showing the sync engine's raw error. - From the terminal:
drivedeck --status(with--jsonfor scripts and status bars),
--sync-now,--print-link <file>and--update. - In your language: German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Japanese,
Chinese (Simplified), Russian, Turkish and Korean, picked from your system's language. The
translations are machine-drafted; corrections are welcome (seepo/README.md). - Smaller improvements: the big-delete notification names the folder and how many items; more of
the client's own "needs a full resync" wording is recognised; uninstalling on Arch removes the
right package; a custom service that would restart the client in a loop is pointed out.
Which file do I need? Most PCs are x86_64 (amd64). Raspberry Pi and other ARM computers use aarch64 (arm64).

DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.0
DriveDeck for OneDrive 1.0
The easiest, most complete way to use OneDrive on Linux. This app used to be called "A GUI that works with OneDrive on Linux (unofficial)". Installing 1.0 replaces it, and your accounts, settings, autostart and menu entry carry over by themselves. With the AppImage, start the new file once; you can then delete the old one.
New
- Sync badges on your files, as in Windows File Explorer: a tick when a file is synced, arrows while it syncs, a warning sign when it couldn't, a pause sign while syncing is paused. They show in Dolphin (Plasma 6), Nemo and Caja, and can be switched off in App settings. The .deb and .rpm include the Dolphin part; with the AppImage, App settings → Add badges to Dolphin installs it with one password prompt.
- Syncing set up outside the app is reported, never changed behind your back. If the computer starts the OneDrive client for everyone at login, or as a system service, the window says so and offers to turn it off (with your password) or leave it as it is.
- Clearer messages when Microsoft turns something down: what went wrong in plain words, followed by Microsoft's own reason when it gives one.
- Keyboard and screen-reader friendly: every control can be reached with the keyboard and has a spoken name.
Fixed
- The tray icon stopped responding to clicks about a minute after it started (since 0.4.0).
- "Sync now" in the settings window didn't lift a pause, so syncing stopped again a few seconds later.
- Security hardening: rewriting a configuration file keeps its permissions; names and paths can't add lines to service or desktop files; the client installer never overwrites an existing package source or signing key; the Dolphin plugin installs through a safe temporary file.
- Faster and lighter all day: the window and tray never wait on slow work, file manager badges answer in batches even in folders with thousands of files, memory use stays bounded, and background helpers for removed accounts stop properly.
- Sign-in stops cleanly if the account's folder is removed half-way, and SharePoint searches no longer overlap.
If something goes wrong in the tray, it is now written to ~/.local/share/drivedeck/logs/tray-errors.log; please attach it to a bug report.

v0.4.1
What's new in 0.4.1
- Tray badges for AppImage users. The tray icon now shows its check, sync arrows, ! and pause badges on Plasma (it used to fall back to the plain app icon). An older menu icon is updated too.
- Government and China clouds work properly. GCC High, DoD and China (21Vianet) accounts now talk to their own cloud's servers. The retired Germany cloud is no longer offered.
- Safer folder backup. It won't move files onto an unplugged drive's empty folder, or back up a Desktop/Documents setting that points somewhere unsafe. Very long file names no longer stop a backup or a version download.
- SharePoint search shows the best 30 sites and skips a site it can't read instead of failing.
- Smaller fixes: copy link falls back to another clipboard tool, a damaged settings file is always backed up first, nested accounts pick the right folder through links, and closing the panel or cancelling a preview is more robust on older systems.

v0.4.0
What's new in 0.4.0
The biggest update yet. Everything below is new since 0.3.5:
- A tray panel like the one on Windows. Click the icon for every account's status, the files
syncing right now with their progress, and recent files with their icons. Click one to open it. - Back up this computer's folders (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos) into OneDrive.
- Version history from Dolphin: see a file's earlier versions, open one, or restore it.
- Share with people from Dolphin: invite people by email to view or edit, with a message.
- Editing links as well as view-only links, from Dolphin's right-click menu.
- Files changed in two places are listed, and you choose which version to keep, or both.
- Says which files didn't sync, and why, in plain words, with what to do about them.
- Protection against big deletions: syncing stops and asks before deleting lots of files online.
- Choose the direction: both ways, download only or upload only.
- Skip what you don't want synced: hidden files, names, symbolic links,
.nosyncfolders, and
shared folders for work and school accounts. - Every client setting, in plain words, in a new Advanced section, with Show all settings in use.
- Government and national clouds (US GCC High and DoD, Germany, China).
- Storage warnings when an account is almost full, and when it's full.
- Pauses on a metered connection or in power saver, and carries on by itself afterwards.
- Quick links to the OneDrive website, its recycle bin and Restore your OneDrive.
- Stop syncing on Quit, if you'd like the tray's Quit to stop everything.
- Tells you when a new version is out (once a day; you can switch it off).
- A new look: a new icon, and tray icons that show a green check when everything is synced.
- Even more careful with your files: nothing is ever overwritten while moving or backing up
folders, two sync engines never run on one account, and settings files that can't be read are never
replaced.
