Waveshare's 2.8" as a USB display shows what it is sent (0.7.2 left it black), up to 60
pictures a second; elements of a theme turn, by any angle; game mode knows the games of the
other launchers and of folders you name; the panels restart without quitting Libre Panel; and
on Windows no more hang at the start over its private folder.

New

  • Elements turn, by any angle (discussion #23). Design → Position and size turns the
element chosen, in degrees clockwise: typed as you like, or 15° at a time with its buttons
and the arrow keys. A quarter turn is exact to the pixel, any other angle smooth; glow,
shadow, a bar's mark and dot turn with it, a module turns as a whole. A text turns about the
point it is aligned at, so a value that changes stays where it starts. In the theme file it
    is rotate (Themes).
  • Game mode knows the games of the other launchers, and of folders you name. Besides Steam,
a game of Epic, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, the EA app, Battle.net, Rockstar, Amazon Games or the
Xbox app now switches the panel to game mode by itself, and on Linux one of Heroic (Epic, GOG,
Amazon) or Lutris: each launcher's own list of what it installed is read, as for Steam, and a
game counts once its window has been in front, so a launcher's helper in the background does
not. Games from no launcher come in through Game folders (Settings → Game mode and more):
a game's own folder, or a folder with a game in each of its folders.
  • Restart panels, without quitting Libre Panel. For a panel that hangs: Restart panels on
Start, in the panel's menu in the header, in the command palette and in the tray lets every
panel go and opens them anew, as at Libre Panel's start. Where a panel does not let go, it says
that only a new start of Libre Panel helps.

Fixes

  • Waveshare's 2.8" as a USB display stayed black (#30). 0.7.2 sent it raw pixels, which
it names too, but the program on its card that draws the pictures decodes JPEG only. It now
gets the kind of picture it names first, as the protocol's own drivers send it: JPEG, its
colours at every pixel, still a stream of 30 a second; a picture that fills its last USB
packet is ended as the protocol's Windows driver ends it. Should its decoder show only the
other usual kind of JPEG, the panel test finds that out: where the test card stays black, it
shows it once more as that kind and keeps it in config.toml where it shows. Settings →
    Panel → Frames per second
now sets its frame rate too, up to 60 (a JPEG takes about a
millisecond to make). The panel test names the kind of picture it sent and its real size,
where it said RGB565 for every panel with a driver of its own.
  • On Windows, Libre Panel could hang at its start with a core busy, without its tray icon
and window, when it was not allowed to write to its private folder
(%APPDATA%\LibrePanel\private): Python's temporary file tried new names there without end.
It now gives up at once and goes on. A private folder it may not write to (made by a Libre
Panel with administrator rights) is set aside and made anew, and such a folder no longer goes
to its owner alone (discussion #22). Such a Libre Panel came from the setup: started from its
last page, it ran with the setup's administrator rights. The setup now starts it as you.
