• Masked log: share a terminal without its secrets. Masked log above the terminal opens a second window that shows the terminal's output with passwords, keys, tokens, Cisco/pfSense secrets, IP and MAC addresses, serial numbers, user and host names masked: secrets become ••••••, the rest get stable names (IP-1, SN-2, HOST-1) so the log still reads. Share that window while Cmdex's own window stays protected from capture. Select text there and choose Mask this too to add a rule.
• Your own masking rules: a piece of text, the word after a keyword, or an RE2 pattern; each kind of value can be turned on or off. Rules only describe text, never run anything; they are stored encrypted and travel with JSON backups. The real values behind IP-1… are listed only in the main window, when you ask.
• The output is kept in memory only and erased when you close the tab; nothing is written to disk. Full-screen programs (vim, top, less) are not logged.
• Notes in a window of their own. The chat bubble (Ctrl+Shift+N) now opens the notes in a separate window you can place beside Cmdex or on another screen; clicking it again brings that window to the front. It is part of the same Cmdex: no separate icon, it closes with Cmdex, and notes stay in the same library and backups. It follows the screen-capture protection setting.

Note: masking by patterns is never complete — check the shared window before you share it.

• Type cmdex in a terminal on Windows. The installer adds Cmdex to your PATH (an option, on by default; uninstalling gives PATH back exactly as it was). A small cmdex.com next to Cmdex.exe makes the terminal wait, so cmdex --export backup.json --password asks for the password without the shell getting in the way. Open a new terminal after installing.
• Open Cmdex when you sign in to Windows or Linux: the new Settings (gear in the top bar). Off until you turn it on; for your account only.
• Filter by label beside the system filter: All, No label, Warning, Critical — any set. A command shows when it passes both filters.
• Nmap tool pack: 40 commands (finding hosts, port and UDP scans, versions, OS, scripts, TLS and SMB checks, timing, output, firewall tests) and an explanation for 119 options. Loud, intrusive or spoofing scans are labelled Warning, dos scripts Critical, for nmap lines you type or collect too. Labels only: nothing is blocked.
• 13 hardware and network starter commands: mainboard maker/model/serial, devices present, full system information, connections with their process, TCP details, network configuration (Windows); dmidecode, lspci, lsusb, lshw, ss -tulpn, netstat -tulnp, nmap -p (Linux).

Fixed

• The screen-capture shield showed off although Cmdex was hidden from capture: a hidden input-method window that Windows creates later was counted. Only windows on the screen count now.

Security notes: see SECURITY.md — starting at sign-in, PATH and cmdex.com; the system's Open/Save dialogs are not hidden from capture.

Cmdex 0.2.1: backups with or without a password

You choose how a backup is kept

• Library ▸ Export ▸ Full backup now asks whether to protect the backup:
  • With a password: typed twice on the secure keypad, at least 8 characters. The backup is encrypted (AES-256-GCM, key from your password with Argon2id) and any change to the file is detected. It opens on any computer, Windows or Linux, only with that password. A forgotten password cannot be recovered.
  • Without a password: plain JSON, as before. Anyone holding the file can read it, notes and connections included.
• Import recognises a protected backup and asks for its password (try again if it is wrong), then shows what it holds before you merge or replace.
• Command line: cmdex --export backup.json --password asks for the password twice in the terminal, and cmdex --import backup.json asks for it when the file is protected. Passwords are never given on the command line.

Also

• The export dialog no longer says a .db copy opens in any SQLite tool: its private values are encrypted with this computer's key, so it imports only on this computer.
• The import preview counts notes.

Cmdex 0.2.0: notes, many files at once, terminal copy and paste

Notes in a chat bubble

• A bubble in the corner (Ctrl+Shift+N) keeps notes like messages, grouped by day.
• Text in any language, with bold, italic, underline, strike, ==highlight==, six colours, headings, lists, tasks you can tick, quotes and code blocks. A toolbar, Ctrl+B/I/U and a preview help with the markup.
• Images: paste, drop or pick PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP. Large photos are scaled down. Click an image to see it full size.
• Commands and scripts are coloured (PowerShell, bash, cmd, Python, JavaScript, Go, SQL, JSON, YAML…). They can only be copied: nothing in a note runs or goes to a terminal.
• Find marks every match where it is, shows "2/7", and the ▲ ▼ arrows (Enter, Shift+Enter) step through them. Case and Vietnamese accents are ignored: "ca phe" finds "cà phê".
• A note can be pinned to the file or folder chosen on the map; 📎 opens it there again.
• Notes, their pins and images are encrypted in your database like your commands, and travel in backups.

Folder map

• The map opens where you left it: the folder shown last is remembered (encrypted, and left out of backups).
• Several files at once: Ctrl+click or Shift+click adds a star, Shift+drag chooses every star in a box. Throw the whole group into the black hole with one confirmation; the stars go in one after another, and the files go to the system trash.

Terminal

• Right-click in a terminal to copy the selection or everything it holds, paste, select all or clear the screen.
• Ctrl+C copies when text is selected (as in Windows Terminal) and still interrupts a command otherwise. Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+Shift+V work as before.
• Pasting several lines shows them and asks first: most shells run each line as soon as it arrives.

Upgrading

• The database gets two tables for notes. Going back to 0.1.9 still opens it, without the notes.
• JSON backups include notes and their images in clear, like the rest of the library. Keep them safe.

Cmdex 0.1.9: branches, and a smoother map

The tree becomes branches

• Work ▸ Map ▸ Tree now arranges the same stars as branches: the folder in the centre sits on the left, and its sub-folders and files fan out to the right, layer by layer (still four layers, with the centre).
• Switching views morphs one into the other. The galaxy stops turning and unrolls into branches, or the branches curl back into the galaxy, while the view refits.
• Everything works in both views: hover details, the traced path, right-click actions, flying into a folder, and the black hole.
• A folder with branches after it is named above its star, so the links never cross its name. Files are named to the right.

Smoother on large folders

• On large folders the map ran at a few frames per second. It now stays smooth:
  • Each folder shows 40 entries (the rest are summed as "+N more items").
  • A scan reads at most 1,200 entries.
  • Hidden names are not drawn.
  • The twinkling background stops while stars move.
  • Maps over 400 stars keep their glow on the first layer only and do not spin.
• A tree taller than the view opens on the centre folder.

Cmdex 0.1.8: the folder map

Your folders as a galaxy

• New Work ▸ Map: the terminal's folder drawn as a galaxy. The folder is the bright core, sub-folders are white stars, and files are coloured dots (code, documents, media, data, programs). A Tree view shows the same folders as a classic list.
• Hover any star for its type, size, date, contents and full path. The path from the core lights up as a moving trace. You do not need to aim: the nearest star within a few pixels is picked. Find traces a file by name.
• Click a folder to fly to it, and click again (or double-click) to make it the new core. Only four layers are read at a time (the core and three below), so even large drives stay light. Use the path bar or ⬆ to go back up.
• File actions (right-click, or the card): open, show in the file manager, rename (F2), new folder, copy path.
• The black hole is the trash. Drag a star into it, or choose "Black hole", and confirm. The star is stretched into a strand that winds into the hole, while the file goes to the system trash, so you can still restore it.
• Commands for a file come from your library and tool packs, with the path filled in (python '…\train.py', java -jar …, mvn package for a pom.xml). ▶ Paste puts them into the local terminal without running them.

Safety

• The map reads names, sizes and dates only, never file contents. Links and junctions are never followed.
• Changes stay inside the folder on the map. They never touch that folder itself or system folders (Windows, Program Files, ProgramData, a drive's root; on Linux anything outside your home folder, /tmp and mounted drives).
• Deleting only moves to the trash. Windows does this only on fixed drives, where the Recycle Bin exists; on USB sticks and network shares Cmdex refuses rather than delete for good. Linux uses the home trash on the same drive.
• Opening a file that runs as a program (.exe, .bat, .ps1, .jar…) asks first.
• Paths on the map are not stored or collected.

Cmdex 0.1.7: tool packs for Python, Java, Maven and Gradle

Tool packs

• New Library ▸ Tool packs: commands for programs that are not part of the system. This version brings Python (59 commands: python, py, venv, json.tool, pip), Java (45: java, javac, jar, javadoc, javap, jdeps, keytool, jarsigner, jps, jstack, jmap), Maven (23) and Gradle (31), all in English and Vietnamese.
• Cmdex offers a pack when it finds its program on this computer, at start and when you come back to the window after installing something. Choose Add, Later or Don't ask again. Turning a pack off removes its commands, but the ones you edited stay yours.
• Finding a program only looks at file names in the folders of PATH. Cmdex never runs the program, reads it or asks a package manager, and nothing is downloaded: the packs are built into Cmdex.
• Commands written for one system show on it only (activating a virtual environment: source …/bin/activate on Linux, …\Scripts\activate.bat on Windows).
• The pack content is adapted from tldr-pages (CC BY 4.0), with a Vietnamese translation added.

More warnings

• Commands are labelled Warning when they overwrite a file with >, start a Java debug agent, share a folder (python -m http.server), dump a program's memory (jmap -dump), change keys or keystores (keytool, jarsigner), create or extract .jar files, clean or install builds (mvn clean/install/deploy, gradle clean/wrapper/init) or empty the pip cache. This applies to every command, not only the new packs.
• A Java debug agent listening on every address (address=*:5005) is Critical: anyone who can reach the port can run code in the program.
• The risky commands in the packs carry a note saying why.

Gói công cụ

• Mục mới Thư viện lệnh ▸ Gói công cụ: lệnh cho các chương trình không có sẵn trong hệ điều hành. Bản này có Python (59 lệnh: python, py, venv, json.tool, pip), Java (45: java, javac, jar, javadoc, javap, jdeps, keytool, jarsigner, jps, jstack, jmap), Maven (23) và Gradle (31), đều có tiếng Việt và tiếng Anh.
• Cmdex gợi ý một gói khi thấy chương trình đó trên máy: lúc mở app, và khi bạn quay lại cửa sổ sau khi cài thêm phần mềm. Chọn Thêm, Để sau hoặc Không hỏi lại. Tắt gói sẽ bỏ các lệnh của gói, lệnh bạn đã sửa vẫn được giữ.
• Cmdex chỉ xem tên file trong các thư mục của PATH: không chạy chương trình, không đọc nội dung, không gọi trình quản lý gói, và không tải gì về vì các gói có sẵn trong Cmdex.
• Lệnh dành cho một hệ chỉ hiện trên hệ đó (kích hoạt môi trường ảo: source …/bin/activate trên Linux, …\Scripts\activate.bat trên Windows).
• Nội dung gói chuyển thể từ tldr-pages (CC BY 4.0) và dịch thêm tiếng Việt.

Thêm nhãn cảnh báo

• Lệnh được gắn Cảnh báo khi: ghi đè file bằng >, bật Java debug agent, chia sẻ thư mục (python -m http.server), dump bộ nhớ chương trình (jmap -dump), đổi khoá hay keystore (keytool, jarsigner), tạo hoặc giải nén .jar, xoá hoặc cài bản build (mvn clean/install/deploy, gradle clean/wrapper/init), xoá cache pip. Áp dụng cho mọi lệnh, không chỉ lệnh trong gói mới.
• Java debug agent mở cho mọi địa chỉ (address=*:5005) là Critical: ai kết nối được tới cổng đó đều chạy được code trong chương trình.
• Các lệnh có rủi ro trong gói đều kèm ghi chú giải thích lý do.

Cmdex 0.1.6 — security release: paste, don't run; encrypted library

Update recommended.

▶ pastes, you run

• ▶ now pastes the command into the terminal without pressing Enter: read it, then press Enter yourself. In 0.1.5 and earlier it pasted and ran at once, and the "ask first" / "copy only" settings were not enforced (see the correction in the 0.1.4 and 0.1.5 notes).
• Commands are labelled Warning (changes the system: services, packages, firewall, users, configuration) or Critical (may delete data or cut service: rm -rf, Remove-Item -Recurse, robocopy /MIR, format, mkfs, dd, restarts, firewall off, Cisco write erase / reload, pfctl -d…). Critical commands carry a reminder to check every part before Enter.
• Labels also apply to commands you add, import, collect or type to have explained: Cmdex detects them from the text, per system (on Cisco, shutdown turns a port off, not the device).
• A pasted command counts as collected only when you press Enter on it unchanged.

Your library is encrypted

• Connections (name, host, user, key path, serial settings), your commands and the collected log are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is random and kept in the system keychain (Windows Credential Manager, Secret Service on Linux). A copied database file cannot be read without it.
• The first start of 0.1.6 encrypts your existing library (and its backup copy) once, then rewrites the files so nothing readable is left on the disk. Nothing in your library changes: tests check every command, connection and collected line before and after.
• Linux without a keyring: Cmdex asks you to choose a master password, then asks it at each start.
• If the key is missing (a database copied from another computer, a keychain reset), Cmdex says so and lets you start a new library; the locked one is kept.
• JSON backups are not encrypted (so they open on another computer): keep them safe. A .db copy stays encrypted and imports only on the computer that made it.
• Going back to 0.1.5 or older is not supported after this update.

Thư viện được mã hóa

• Kết nối (tên, máy, tài khoản, đường dẫn khóa, cấu hình COM), lệnh của bạn và nhật ký thu thập được mã hóa AES-256-GCM. Khóa ngẫu nhiên, nằm trong kho bảo mật của hệ điều hành (Windows Credential Manager, Secret Service trên Linux). Chép file database đi nơi khác cũng không đọc được.
• Lần mở đầu tiên của 0.1.6 sẽ mã hóa thư viện hiện có (cả bản sao lưu) một lần, rồi ghi lại file để không còn dữ liệu đọc được trên ổ đĩa. Không có gì trong thư viện bị thay đổi: test kiểm tra từng lệnh, kết nối, dòng thu thập trước và sau.
• Linux không có kho mật khẩu: Cmdex yêu cầu đặt mật khẩu chính, và hỏi nó mỗi lần mở.

That was wrong: in 0.1.5 and earlier the safety level of a command is stored but not enforced, and ▶ Run pastes the line and presses Enter at once for every command. Check a command before you run it. The next version changes ▶ Run to paste only (you press Enter yourself) and marks destructive commands as CRITICAL. See SECURITY.md.

Filter the library by system

• Choose All, or any set of Windows, Linux, Cisco, pfSense, in the Workspace and in the Library. Commands of the other systems are hidden; every command keeps its system badge.
• A Windows + Linux command shows when either is chosen.
• When the filter hides the system of the session you are on, the suggestions say so.

More starter commands

• Windows (30): network resets (Winsock, TCP/IP), MAC addresses, network cards, Wi-Fi report, mapped drives, shared folders, Remote Desktop; domain/AD (group policies, domain controller, Kerberos, account status and unlock); time sync, latest updates, scheduled tasks, activation, battery report, hosts file; printers (list, restart the spooler, clear a queue); BitLocker and Defender.
• Linux (31): firewalld, iptables, nftables; neighbours, DNS in use, which process uses a port, a site's certificate, mtr, iperf3; time and NTP, failed services, cron, SELinux, kernel messages, logs since a time; mounts and disk health (SMART); zip/unzip; users and passwords; dnf; nginx test; docker compose.
• Each comes with its explanation, in English and Vietnamese. No command holds a password. (Commands that change the system are marked ask-first, but this is not enforced in this version: see the correction above.)

Vietnamese text, whatever the tool

• Backups and packs are saved as UTF-8 with a BOM, so Notepad, Excel and PowerShell 5 show Vietnamese correctly.
• Imports accept UTF-8 with or without a BOM, and UTF-16 (Notepad's "Unicode", PowerShell 5's >); a file in an old code page is refused instead of being stored with broken letters.
• On a Vietnamese (or other localized) Windows, explanations learned from a tool's own help no longer come out with broken letters.

Updating changes nothing in your library, connections, settings or collected commands.

Cmdex 0.1.4 — Cisco & pfSense, builder under the search box, automatic merge, log clearing

Network devices: Cisco and pfSense

• 60 Cisco IOS/IOS-XE commands (status, ports and VLANs, configuration, SSH setup, save and reload) and 32 pfSense commands (pfctl, easyrule, pfSsh.php playback, logs, diagnostics), in English and Vietnamese.
• Connections have a device type (Automatic, Linux, Windows, Cisco, pfSense): the device's commands come first in suggestions.
• Cisco lines are explained keyword by keyword, abbreviations included: sh ip int br, conf t, no shut, switchport access vlan 10.
• Safety levels are set on these commands (reload, write erase, pfctl -d and "allow all on WAN" marked copy-only; configuration changes marked ask-first), but are not enforced in this version: see the correction above.
• Passwords typed in device commands (secret …, password …, snmp-server community …) are masked in collected commands.

Workspace

• The builder stays right under the search box: the command you pick is built there, always in view.
• Suggestions follow what you type and fill the space below, scrolling on their own. Picking one builds it without searching again; values you were typing are kept.
• A more compact builder (tags are still in the library).

Collect settings (new "Merging & log" panel)

• Merge similar commands automatically — off by default. A collected command that resembles one in your library at least as much as the level you choose (50, 75, 85 or 100%) is merged into it and its runs are counted there. New commands are never added on their own: they still wait for you. Merges made this way show as Merged automatically and can be undone.
• The same level decides from when a merge is suggested (75% by default).
• Runs of a command you merged keep counting on its library command.
• Clear the collected log now, or automatically after 7, 30 or 90 days. The collected lines and the groups waiting for review are deleted; what you already added, merged or ignored stays decided, so those commands do not come back for review. Turn off Collect commands if you want no new ones.

Security and privacy fixes (also for what 0.1.3 changed)

• The copy of your database made when upgrading to 0.1.3 (cmdex.db.bak-v1) is now readable by you only, gets the same password/token masking as your database, and is cleared together with the collected log. Nothing else in it changes.
• Clearing the collected log really erases it: the database file is rewritten so deleted lines cannot be recovered from the disk.
• An imported backup can no longer pass its commands off as starter commands or hide a starter command behind one of its own.
• Your own rules and trimmed synonym lists are no longer changed at the next start when they resemble a default (a 0.1.3 bug).
• Adding a collected cd … to the library no longer puts your real folder in it as a default, so shared packs do not carry your folder names.

Updating changes nothing in your library, connections, settings or collected decisions; a test checks this on a library as used with 0.1.3.

Lệnh mới không bao giờ tự vào thư viện, vẫn chờ bạn duyệt. Nhóm tự gộp được đánh dấu Đã tự gộp và có thể hoàn tác.
• Cùng mức đó cũng là mức bắt đầu gợi ý gộp (mặc định 75%).

• Bản sao database tạo khi nâng cấp lên 0.1.3 (cmdex.db.bak-v1) giờ chỉ bạn đọc được, được che mật khẩu/token giống database chính, và được xoá nhật ký cùng lúc. Những thứ khác trong đó giữ nguyên.
• Xoá nhật ký thu thập là xoá hẳn: file database được ghi lại để dòng lệnh đã xoá không phục hồi được từ ổ đĩa.
• File sao lưu lạ không thể giả làm lệnh mẫu hay che lệnh mẫu bằng lệnh của nó nữa.
• Quy tắc và danh sách từ đồng nghĩa bạn tự chỉnh không còn bị đổi ở lần mở sau khi trông giống mặc định (lỗi của 0.1.3).
• Thêm lệnh cd … thu thập được vào thư viện không còn lấy thư mục thật làm giá trị mặc định, nên gói lệnh chia sẻ không mang tên thư mục của bạn.
