One app per platform

NASfone is now one app for Android and one for Windows. On first launch you choose what the device does:

Android shares the phone's storage browse, upload/download, NAS in the Files app, photo backup
Windows shares a folder of the PC mounts the NAS as a drive (P:)

The role can be changed later in Settings. Existing installs keep their role: a phone that was a server stays a server, and a paired Windows client stays a client.

NASfone-Server-0.2.0.apk and NASfone-Windows-Client-Setup-0.2.0.exe are the same files under their old names, so 0.1.x installs can update themselves. New users can ignore them.

What's new

  • Role chooser on both platforms. This replaces the separate Android client and Windows server betas.
  • Android client role:
    • pairing with a key held by the Android Keystore;
    • browse, upload and download;
    • the NAS in the Files app;
    • automatic photo & video backup;
    • the fastest path (LAN, then tailnet, then Funnel) is chosen automatically.
  • Windows server role:
    • shares a folder of the PC with embedded Tailscale, Funnel, sign-in codes, paired apps and LAN access;
    • LAN QR requests are approved in its window with a 4-character check code;
    • the installer allows LAN access through the firewall on private networks only.
  • Servers tell paired apps their addresses, so clients can use the LAN when they are on the same network.
  • Updates understand betas and keep your setup, as before.

iPhone / iPad (beta)

NASfone-iOS-0.2.0.ipa is the iOS client: pairing by QR with a Secure Enclave key, browse, view, share, download (Files app › On My iPhone › NASfone), upload, and photo & video backup. It is built by GitHub Actions and is not signed yet. Install it with Sideloadly or AltStore using your own Apple ID; a free Apple ID needs re-signing every 7 days. It has not been tested on a real device yet, so please report problems.

Notes

  • The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
  • If you installed the Windows server beta, uninstall "NASfone for Windows - Server" first. Its data in %APPDATA%\NASfone-Server is reused when you choose the server role.

NASfone giờ chỉ còn một app cho Android và một app cho Windows. Lần đầu mở app, bạn chọn Làm server (máy chứa file) hoặc Làm client (dùng NAS ở máy khác). Vai trò đổi được sau này trong Cài đặt.

  • NASfone-Android-0.2.0.apk: cài cho điện thoại Android.
  • NASfone-Windows-Setup-0.2.0.exe: cài cho máy tính Windows.
  • Máy đã cài trước đây tự cập nhật và giữ nguyên vai trò, cấu hình.
  • Hai file mang tên cũ chỉ để các bản 0.1.x tự cập nhật; người mới không cần tải.
  • iPhone/iPad (beta): NASfone-iOS-0.2.0.ipa, chưa ký số. Cài bằng Sideloadly hoặc AltStore với Apple ID của bạn (Apple ID miễn phí cần ký lại sau mỗi 7 ngày). Bản này chưa được thử trên iPhone thật.
  • Nếu đã cài bản beta "NASfone for Windows - Server", hãy gỡ nó trước. Dữ liệu cũ được dùng lại khi chọn vai trò server.
