This release removes the manual setup for phones and other PCs, and adds albums and photos from the phone. You need LightCraft Cloud 0.2.0 or newer on the phone for pairing, albums and phone photos. The README explains how the parts fit together.
What's Changed
- Pairing: no more copying rclone config files. On the home PC, open Status ▸ Add a device and type the code the phone or other PC shows. The home PC then shows a QR code (scan it with the phone) or a text (paste it on another PC). The home PC never shows the code, so a screen share or a photo of the screen gives nothing away. A paired device uses the same cloud sign-in as the home PC, so pair only devices you own.
- Albums on the phone: the home PC reads your LightCraft albums, smart albums and album folders while LightCraft is open, and the phone shows them in a "From PC" folder. They are view-only for now. The app only reads them: it sends LightCraft three read-only requests and nothing that could change your library.
- Photos from the phone: photos sent from the phone are added to
Photos/Phone/<date taken>on the home PC and then show everywhere like any other photo. - Sync now in Status: the Status window has a Sync now button, so you don't need the tray menu.
- Version number: Status shows the app's version.
- Linux programs menu: the Linux install adds LightCraft Cloud to the programs menu. Starting the app while it's already running opens its Status window, on Linux and Windows.
Which file do I need?
| Home PC | Another PC | |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit | lightcraft-cloud-0.3.0-windows-home-setup.exe |
lightcraft-cloud-0.3.0-windows-setup.exe |
| Linux, glibc 2.35 or newer | lightcraft-cloud-0.3.0-linux-home.tar.gz |
lightcraft-cloud-0.3.0-linux-light.tar.gz |
On Linux, unpack the archive and run install.sh. SHA256SUMS has checksums for all of these.
Before you start
- If you're on 0.2.0 or 0.2.1, Windows apps offer this update themselves.
- Devices already set up keep working; you don't need to pair them again.
- Albums need LightCraft open on the home PC with its control channel on (the same setting that lets the app add photos from other PCs). Without it, the last albums read stay.
- Pairing has only been tested with Google Drive.
- The Windows installers aren't code-signed, so SmartScreen warns on the first install. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
