Blufins upgrade to Fedora 44

Since Fedora 44 was released today I was wondering when Bluefin moves to Fedora 44
When I was on Fedora I did my upgrades in January and July to make sure the extensions didn't brake and if any bugs they could be fixed by the time I upgraded, so not in a hurry
Just wondering when Bluefin upgrades to the next Fedora

Also note F44 is released with kernel 6.19, which has already been declared EOL.. it will probably take some time for a F44.x version to be released with v7.0 or by that time v7.1 (which seems to be a much bigger update than v7.0 anyways).

Kernel 7.0 is currently having a huge regression regarding bootc/composefs so its good that we are still on 6.19

As a user who was using Bluefin GTS before it was streamlined into stable, I urge the team not to rush the F44 updates. :)

Ditto - I'm willing to wait for the new F44 "sealed" images as a base - between F43 "DX" and CentOS "GDX" I have everything I need in power and stability.

I'm pretty you can switch back to the latsest 43-based tag (like bootc switch to stable-20260428 right now) and it should stop upgrading to newer images (though flatpaks and brew would keep updating).

Then you can switch to latest stable at your leisure to try it out and then switch back...

There's also LTS (CentOS stream) if you want to be even more conservative.

@karypid I ran Bluefin GDX - based on LTS / CentOS Stream - for a couple of weeks and I had some permissions problems with the Flatpak version of Virtual Machine Manager, so I switched back to Bluefin-DX.

these are a not coming anytime soon, they are currently purely for testing and it propably will need major changes to get them working on our builds
