Do you have the extension enabled? https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/ |

Hey @DFeise, this is the AppIndicator extension. The version Bluefin currently ships (v61) doesn't list GNOME 50 in its compatibility metadata, so Shell silently disables it on a GS50 system, which kills the tray icons. Upstream fixed it in v63/v64. I've opened a PR that teaches Renovate to track these extension tags automatically so this doesn't happen again at every GNOME major: #4577. |

Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that on GNOME 50 under Fedora 44 (Bluefin Latest), icons for running background applications (system tray / status icons) are no longer being displayed.
Is this expected behavior in the newer GNOME versions, or is something misconfigured on my system?
If this is intentional, is there a recommended way to re-enable these icons or restore similar functionality (e.g., via extensions or settings)?
Thanks in advance for any clarification or suggestions!
Dennis
