Added
The installer checks prerequisites before it changes anything. It needs
macOS or Linux and Node 22.19 or newer with npm; anything missing is listed
in one "Before you install" block with the fix for this machine (Homebrew,
nvm, fnm, Volta, or nodejs.org), and the installer stops with nothing
installed. A person at a terminal with Homebrew is offered brew install node
(or brew upgrade node); --yes and scripts never install Node.
orchestra doctor lists prerequisites: Node (version and minimum), npm,
git, the coding agents it can find, local-model support and uv, and a
clipboard tool. They are informational and do not fail the doctor.
Fixed
On a Node older than 22.19 the CLI says so instead of crashing. npm only
warns about the engines field, so an old Node still got the CLI installed and
every command then failed with a stack trace (node:sqlite needs Node 22.5).
The CLI now checks the version first and names the update command.
The installer said "Install Node.js 20+"; Orchestra needs Node 22.19.
After the Codex link opens, the steps say what to do if the chat opens
without the prompt: paste it from the box (it is on the clipboard too).
