Welcome to the AUVic Snappy2027 software wiki!
This wiki contains documentation for the software running on Snappy, AUVic's autonomous underwater vehicle for the 2027 RoboSub competition cycle.
If you're new to the software team, start here:
The Getting Started page covers:
- Cloning the repository
- Setting up Docker
- Building the ROS 2 workspace
- Running Snappy
- Some Common ROS 2 commands
The rest of the wiki contains more detailed information about:
- Snappy - overview of the vehicle and software architecture
- ROS2 - ROS 2 concepts and commands used by the team
- Software Subsystems (Nodes) - autonomy, control, estimation, drivers, vision, and launch
- Hardware - onboard hardware and sensors
- Development - testing, debugging, ROS bags, code standards, and development practices
Welcome!
You do not need to understand the entire software stack before contributing. A good first step is to get the repository running locally, become familiar with ROS 2, and then look through the open GitHub issues for something to work on.
