That button is "find a better metadata source for this author," and it only shows up when the author's current record looks thin or isn't properly linked. Two cases trigger it:
Authors that already have a filled in record (description, image, ratings) don't get the button, because there's nothing obviously better to go fetch for them. So the ones showing it are the empty-ish or import-linked authors, and the ones without it already have decent metadata. If you've got an author that looks well populated but still shows the button, or one that's clearly missing data but doesn't, point me at it and I'll take a look. |

I'll let you know as soon as i stumble upon one. But i have related problem:
"Find better metadata" does not show Paul Cornell from Hardcover , so i think it's already linked I'll try to link OpenLibrary one's, but as you can see, there is only one book, and no author info/photo. |

Now i did link the OpenLibrary's author, it had nearly 50 books from the link search window. It has updated books count and books list, but still no author info https://openlibrary.org/authors/OL6094856A/Paul_Cornell |

I also have put a photo for the author in OpenLibrary, waited a bit, refreshed metadata, and now book number changed, bust still no photo or desc of the autor

Why this button is present on some authors, but not in others?
