Various people including those who work on the visual framework mentioned that they find it had to find specific VF components, especially when they can't quite recall their exact name.

Searching with an approximate keyword sometimes helps but I do think that the way that the components are organised in the Components page and the Components mega-menu
isn't very intuitive.

The Components megamenu has the following categories, each of which lists components alphabetically:

  • Patterns
  • Container
  • Block
  • Element
  • Layout

And 3 links:

  • Forms
  • Utility
  • Tools

The Components page has the same sections (with a small variation in their names), each of which lists components alphabetically:

  • Patterns
  • Container components
  • Block components
  • Element components
  • Layout components
  • Form components
  • Utility components
  • Tools

@OliveiraCs and I attended [a workshop during GDS' Design System days]*(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1u3r_rCLriOVzR0tFCFZ7fYKa_mAY9bo6836bU1mIYkQ/edit#heading=h.t62wfqbqy7e0) in which they discussed ways for organising components that can be better than A-Z list(s). Identifying the most important components and organising them into categories such as essential, optional and rare was mentioned. We can use this as a starting point for the discussion on how to better organise the components of the VF.
