Steps to reproduce

Collapse menu with the blue button in codesandbox.

What is expected?

There should be a popover menu

What is actually happening?

The sub-menu is folding out to the bottom.

Seems like something is wrong with the menu mode. See also the commented code. If it's uncommented, the bug does not appear. Might help with debugging.
