Reed 0.3.5
Reed 0.3.5
- Hands-free dictation: double-tap the shortcut to keep listening without holding it. Tap once to finish, or press Esc to discard.
- Reed no longer quits when AirPods connect just as you start dictating.
- The first dictation after a pause no longer fails with "Microphone didn't start" when AirPods are your default audio device and Reed uses another microphone.
Reed 0.3.4
Reed 0.3.4
- The dictation pill appears in place again. In 0.3.3 it could show up off-centre and jump into position, and feel laggy, especially when the Mac was busy.
- The faint grey rectangle around the pill and the microphone warnings is gone.
- Closing setup or Settings now fully releases the window, so nothing from it keeps running in the background.
Reed 0.3.3
Reed 0.3.3
- Reed no longer uses CPU while idle after a dictation. In 0.3.2 the dictation pill's spinner kept animating after the pill disappeared, holding Reed at about 20% CPU and slowing the Mac until the next dictation.
Reed 0.3.2
Reed 0.3.2
- Self-corrections at the end of a sentence now resolve: "Meet at 7 PM, sorry, 5 PM" becomes "Meet at 5:00 PM."
- A correction can now replace a time, email or form number you changed your mind about.
- "I'm sorry" and other apologies are no longer deleted during cleanup.
- Amounts in thousands are written as digits: "$4,000", not "$4 thousand"; round millions read "4 million".
- Versions and addresses dictated with "dot" convert whole: "zero dot three dot five" becomes "0.3.5".
Reed 0.3.1
Reed 0.3.1
- Fixed “See exactly what Reed connects to” in Settings → Privacy failing to open its web page.
- Made the dictation cue slightly louder (15% higher audio amplitude).
Reed 0.3.0
Reed 0.3.0: free and open source
- Reed is now open source under the Apache License 2.0: github.com/w20labs/reed.
- No usage analytics or automatic crash reports. Legacy telemetry preferences are cleared on first launch.
- No accounts or calls to W20's backend. Reed downloads its speech model and checks for updates; downloading an update also contacts the distribution service.
- Setup no longer asks you to accept terms.
- "Report an issue" opens Reed's bug report form on GitHub in your browser.
- A new dictation cue sound.
- Settings → About lists the licences of the components Reed includes.
Requires an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.
