Reed 0.3.0: free and open source

  • Reed is now open source under the Apache License 2.0: github.com/w20labs/reed.
  • No usage analytics or automatic crash reports. Legacy telemetry preferences are cleared on first launch.
  • No accounts or calls to W20's backend. Reed downloads its speech model and checks for updates; downloading an update also contacts the distribution service.
  • Setup no longer asks you to accept terms.
  • "Report an issue" opens Reed's bug report form on GitHub in your browser.
  • A new dictation cue sound.
  • Settings → About lists the licences of the components Reed includes.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.
