Normative guidance for AT vendors about user-select:none ?

Is there any guidance for AT behavior regarding user-select:none?

If I wanted to prevent copy/paste for all users (especially including all AT users), to what extent can I rely on user-select:none ?

I had a look at how this works in VoiceOver on macOS and discussed it with @jcsteh and @cookiecrook. On macOS 15.7.2 with VoiceOver and Safari 26.1 it worked as (i) expected. If you start a selection before a user-select: none element and end after it, text was not selected nor copied. This behaviour was also seen in Chrome 142 and Firefox 142. Although in Firefox 142 the selection box was drawn over the user-select: none element when using the VoiceOver text selection command (VO+Return).

I think for now we have other things to focus on but this is certainly an interesting one to keep an eye on!

For the record, this should be fixed in Firefox Nightly very soon.
