The spec uses the term "DID document", which is an alias of the expanded "decentralized identifier document", in --

For example, the kid can refer to a key in a
DID document, or can be the identifier of a key inside a JWKS.

I've tweaked the definition. Does my change suffice?

@burnburn Since there is no normative reference to a DID specification, is the notion of a DID abstract in this specification?

@nadalin I don't understand what you mean by 'DID abstract'. Are you asking whether we can include an informative reference to the early work at https://w3c-ccg.github.io/did-spec/ to help explain what a DID is?

I should also point out that this issue was received after the end of the public comment period for the CR and thus may be officially deferred to after version 1.0 of the specification. However, if this is simply a matter of adding another informative reference we may be able to accommodate that.

WG resolution on 28 May 2019 call:

RESOLUTION: Issue #610 is addressed via PR #618, which makes non-normative clarifications on the term "decentralized identifier document". Issue #610 will be closed after the 7 day wait period.
