dns setup

Setting up your custom domain

If you've added your own domain to a TinyHost site, you need to point that domain at us. This takes about 5 minutes, and your site goes live automatically — usually within a few minutes of the change reaching us.

What you're adding

Two DNS records, at whichever company you registered your domain with (your "DNS provider" — see the guides below if you're not sure which settings page to use):

Type Name Value
A @ (or your bare domain) 88.99.58.31
MX @ (or your bare domain) mail.remailed.uk (priority 10)

Only add the MX record if you set up mail forwarding for this domain. If you didn't, you can skip it — your site will work fine with just the A record.

Every welcome/setup email from us includes your exact domain in these instructions — you can copy them directly from there instead of substituting @ yourself if you're unsure how your provider wants the "name" field filled in.

We check automatically

Once your DNS change is live, we detect it automatically — usually within a couple of minutes, though it can occasionally take longer depending on your provider and any caching along the way. You don't need to tell us, and there's no button to press. You'll get a confirmation email the moment your site goes live with a real, working certificate.

Provider-specific guides

Cloudflare

  1. Log in and select your domain.
  2. Go to DNS → Records.
  3. Click Add record, type A, name @, IPv4 address 88.99.58.31, and set Proxy status to DNS only (the grey cloud, not orange) — this is important, since our own certificate won't work correctly through Cloudflare's proxy.
  4. If you're using mail forwarding, add a second record: type MX, name @, mail server mail.remailed.uk, priority 10.
  5. Save.

GoDaddy

  1. Log in, go to My Products → find your domain → DNS.
  2. Under Records, click Add New Record.
  3. Type A, name @, value 88.99.58.31, TTL default.
  4. If using mail forwarding, add another record: type MX, name @, value mail.remailed.uk, priority 10.
  5. Save.

Namecheap

  1. Log in, go to Domain List → Manage next to your domain.
  2. Go to the Advanced DNS tab.
  3. Under Host Records, click Add New Record.
  4. Type A Record, host @, value 88.99.58.31, TTL Automatic.
  5. If using mail forwarding, add another record: type MX Record, host @, value mail.remailed.uk, priority 10.
  6. Save all changes.

123-reg

  1. Log in, go to Domains → select your domain → Manage DNS.
  2. Add a new A record: name blank or @, points to 88.99.58.31.
  3. If using mail forwarding, add an MX record: name blank or @, points to mail.remailed.uk, priority 10.
  4. Save.

Any other provider

Look for a section called DNS, DNS Management, DNS Zone, or Domain Settings. You're adding the same two records described at the top of this page — the exact screen layout varies, but every provider supports A and MX records in essentially the same way.

Troubleshooting

It's been over an hour and my site still isn't live. DNS changes are usually fast, but can occasionally take longer to reach us depending on your provider. Double-check the record was saved correctly (many providers show a short delay before a new record appears in their own dashboard too). If it's still not working after several hours, email support@tiny-web.uk with your domain name.

I already had other records on this domain (like an existing website). Adding our A record will replace where your bare domain points. If you have other services depending on the old A record, check with whoever set those up before making this change.
