What is the current behavior?

The Webpack 5 documentation at https://webpack.js.org/configuration/other-options/#profile suggests "Use the StatsPlugin for more control over the generated profile" in a tip. The last release of that plugin was 7 years ago, and the repository (https://github.com/unindented/stats-webpack-plugin) was archived 2 years ago.

If the current behavior is a bug, please provide the steps to reproduce.

What is the expected behavior?

Tip should be removed, or point to a maintained plugin that supports Webpack 5.

Hi there,

I found these plugins and here’s a quick comparison:

1. statsWebpackPlugin (FormidableLabs/StatsWebpackPlugin): Actively maintained, compatible with Webpack 5, and provides detailed build stats (especially with --profile).
2. ProfilingPlugin (built-in): Always up-to-date but focuses on plugin execution times rather than overall build stats.

It seems that statsWebpackPlugin might be the better choice for general profiling needs. Can I update the docs accordingly, or is there another alternative worth considering?
