EWeb 0.70: scrolling and relayouts after 0.69, pages still drawn whole as 0.69 draws them (Erez, 4 Nov 2026).

  • Scrolling back up: the page is drawn ahead in the direction you're going, and at a page's top or end the other way. Three Page Ups one after another on a stock 14 MB Falcon (emulator): the window whole in 65 ms (0.69: 285 ms).
  • When a page is laid out again (a picture arrives, a stylesheet comes), only the parts of the window that changed are drawn again.
  • Short of memory while unpacking a big page, EWeb no longer downloads it a second time (iamexpat.de showed 1512 KB for its 756 KB).

Against 0.69 on the emulated stock 14 MB Falcon (TOS 4.04), the rest is the same: the start 450 ms (445), the sample page 420 (420), the news page 805 (800), the pictures' page 435 (445), About 155 (155), Settings 150 (150); on the 8 MHz ST within 20 ms either way.

Not yet checked: the full screen tests and the family's checks. Known: iamexpat.de still says EWeb can't show it (its 3.3 MB of HTML doesn't fit); an EWEB.LOG of it with LOG=1 says where.
