Patchlook v0.1.6
Patchlook v0.1.6 adds read-only browsing of Git repositories on Linux servers over SSH.
What's new
- Browse remote working-tree changes, staged and untracked files, branches, commit history, search results, and image previews without cloning the repository locally or installing Patchlook on the server.
- Connect with a password, a private key (including passphrase-protected keys), or your existing SSH agent. Confirm the server's SHA-256 fingerprint on first connection; later connections verify the saved host key.
- Keep SSH sessions connected while switching repositories. Recent now separates local and remote repositories, shows connection status, and offers Disconnect and Reconnect actions.
- Reuse saved host, port, username, repository path, and key/config-file entries from input history, with individual deletion. Password and passphrase fields can be revealed while typing; secrets are never saved to disk.
- Add a gradual fade-in for dialog backdrops.
- Simplify branch browsing: click a row to choose a branch; the redundant arrow button is removed.
- Fix outdated repository loads overriding a newer selection, and fix Windows SSH connections failing with
set: Illegal option.
Connecting over SSH
Choose Connect via SSH… from the repository menu or the + menu above Recent. Enter the server details and the repository's absolute Linux path. Ordinary connections do not require an SSH configuration file.
The client needs OpenSSH (ssh on PATH). The server needs Git, a POSIX shell, and standard Linux command-line tools. Remote repositories remain read-only; use Refresh after changes made on the server. Passwords and key passphrases stay in memory for the connection. After restarting Patchlook, open a remote entry to reconnect.
