Standard workspace file names. Anima workspaces now follow the de-facto convention used by OpenClaw and Hermes Agent: SOUL.md (personality, voice, values), IDENTITY.md (name, profile, appearance), AGENTS.md (role and operating instructions), HEARTBEAT.md, and BOOTSTRAP.md.
Export to other agent runtimes.animaworks anima export NAME --format openclaw|hermes --out DIR writes an Anima in OpenClaw or Hermes layout (credentials redacted). The OpenClaw / Hermes importers can now apply SOUL.md, IDENTITY.md, AGENTS.md, and HEARTBEAT.md directly.
The isolated enclave now runs on macOS.
Slack thread replies are routed back to the Anima that posted the message.
Compatibility and upgrade notes
Breaking: the first server start on 0.17.0 migrates every Anima automatically (standard_workspace_files_20261031):
identity.md is split into IDENTITY.md (profile / appearance / image color / AI model sections) and SOUL.md (everything else).
Mentions of the old names in knowledge/, procedures/, skills/, AGENTS.md, HEARTBEAT.md, and cron.md are rewritten.
Originals are kept under animas/<name>/archive/standard_files_migration/<timestamp>/ with a manifest.
The old names are not read any more. write_memory_file / read_memory_file redirect injection.md / heartbeat.md / bootstrap.md to the new names; reading identity.md returns IDENTITY.md + SOUL.md, and writing it is refused.
Going back to an older release: run animaworks migrate --rollback-standard-files (optionally --anima NAME, --dry-run) with 0.17.0 before starting the older version. Files edited after the migration are kept under rolled_back_new/.
Codex no longer auto-loads the Anima's own AGENTS.md on top of the prompt (repository AGENTS.md in task worktrees is still read). Cursor gets /AGENTS.md in .cursorignore for the same reason.
Safe on case-insensitive filesystems (macOS APFS).
