Save the date: Zarr summit October 13-17, 2025 in Rome, Italy

Joe Hamman, Davis Bennett and I are collaborating with Radiant Earth on a proposal to the Navigator Fund's Open Science Meeting Fund for a Zarr Summit in 2025.

We have decided to plan for October 13-17, 2025 in Rome, Italy in part because this would allow us to invite the participants of the STAC Sprint happening at ESA ESRIN to join us for a Zarr adopter summit on October 17.

It would strengthen our proposal if you're able to register here. I recommend waiting until we hear back about our proposal before purchasing travel tickets, but I am hopeful since we were invited to submit a full proposal. If interested, you can review our LOI. We currently envision 3 days of collaboration between people steering and developing Zarr implementations (Monday - Wednesday) and 2 days of adopter support (Thursday - Friday).

Our proposal for this summit was approved earlier this week! I plan to send out formal invitations by Monday August 11. Our organization of the summit will also be done mostly in the open at cloudnativegeo/community-events#9.
