AMDLSS 1.4.1
AMDLSS 1.4.1
Fixed
CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED ... unable to get local issuer certificate. On some Windows PCs the update check, Install HelixSR and every other download failed with this error. GitHub's certificates now chain to root certificates (USERTrust ECC for its API, ISRG Root X1 for release downloads) that Windows downloads only when a Windows program first asks for them. AMDLSS's Python never asks, so it found no root to trust. AMDLSS now also trusts Mozilla's root list from certifi, next to your system's own certificates.
How to update
If you have this error, Check for updates fails too, so update by hand: download AMDLSS.exe (or AMDLSS-linux-x86_64) below and replace your old copy. Your settings and the HelixSR build stay where they are. After that, press Install HelixSR or Update HelixSR again.
Without the error, Check for updates then Update works as usual.
Tested
Both binaries pass the selftest, which now checks that certifi is inside and holds GitHub's roots. With an empty certificate store, 1.4.0 fails the update check with the error above and 1.4.1 reaches GitHub. 574 tests pass.
AMDLSS 1.4.0
AMDLSS 1.4.0
Changed
- HelixSR 2.0.0. AMDLSS now installs HelixSR 2.0.0 and HelixSR Scaler 1.1.0. HelixSR's DLL now lives in a
HelixSR-fsrfgfolder; AMDLSS follows the new layout, and a game with an older HelixSR shows update. - AMDLSS downloads NVIDIA's DLSS 310.7.0 DLL itself (checked against a pinned SHA-256), hands it to HelixSR's setup, and deletes it after the build.
Fixed
- HelixSR 2.0.0's setup, when told to answer yes to everything, also installs HelixSR into every game it finds. AMDLSS never passes that switch, so the build changes no game you did not pick.
- A game with only HelixSR's own DLL is no longer listed as an FSR 3.1 game.
Not changed
- Frame generation: the window still offers Off and AMD FSR. HelixSR 2.0.0's DLSS frame generation is not offered yet.
How to update
- Update AMDLSS: Check for updates, then Update.
- Press Update HelixSR. The first build downloads HelixSR (about 131 MB) and NVIDIA's DLSS DLL and takes a few minutes.
- Pick each game that shows update and press Update.
Tested
The HelixSR 2.0.0 build ran for real through AMDLSS on Linux (125 s, all hashes matched, a decoy game left untouched). 571 tests pass. It has not been run in a game with HelixSR 2.0.0 yet; please report what you see.
AMDLSS 1.3.1
AMDLSS 1.3.1
Fixed
- Inject DLSS (DirectX 12) now works on Radeon cards. In 1.3.0 the DLSS tab said
DLSS: not active, the game's TSR ran (fallback: ngx)on AMD cards. The add-on looked for NVIDIA's driver library, which a Radeon does not have. It now calls HelixSR Scaler directly, and HelixSR does the upscaling.
Changed
- A game's card shows update when its DirectX 12 add-on is older than the one AMDLSS carries.
How to update a game that already has the add-on
- Update AMDLSS: Check for updates, then Update.
- Pick the game (its card shows update) and press Update.
Tested
The Radeon path was tested on an RTX 4070 with NVIDIA's driver library hidden, so it ran exactly as on a Radeon. Echoes of Aincrad at 1440p, DLSS Quality: about 80 fps through HelixSR. It has not been confirmed on a real Radeon card yet.

New
- Inject DLSS (DirectX 12). For Unreal Engine games that run DirectX 12 and have no DLSS of their own. AMDLSS places ReShade with its own add-on, which swaps the game's TSR upscale pass for a real DLSS call. On a GeForce card it uses NVIDIA's DLSS runtime. On a Radeon card it goes through HelixSR Scaler, so HelixSR does the upscaling. When a game's files do not say whether it runs DirectX 11 or 12, the window asks.
- DLSS tab in the ReShade overlay. It shows whether DLSS is running, the render size and the mode, and lets you change the render preset and auto exposure while you play.
- Render scale setting. The add-on's ini sets the game's
r.ScreenPercentage, so Quality, Balanced and Performance work even in games without a resolution slider.
Changed
- HelixSR 1.9.3 and HelixSR Scaler 1.0.6. HelixSR's own frame generation is retired.
Fixed
- The pipeline cache is now found in the player's Saved folder, under Proton and on Windows.
- Collect logs now includes
ReShade.logandReShade.ini. - The Luma tab says how to check for DirectX 11 and names the ini key HelixSR Scaler reads.
Measured
Echoes of Aincrad at 1440p on an RTX 4070 (Proton): about 91 fps with DLSS Quality against about 66 fps with the game's native TSR. Through HelixSR Scaler, about 90 fps.
Known limits
- Inject DLSS (DirectX 12) is experimental. It has been tested in one game so far.
- The HelixSR route has not been tested on a Radeon card yet, only on a GeForce card with HelixSR forced on.
- Do not use it in online games or games with anti-cheat.
AMDLSS 1.2.1
AMDLSS 1.2.1
Fixed
- Inject DLSS works again. In 1.2.0, installing it stopped with "the zip does not hold Luma-Unreal-Engine-749/dxgi.dll ...". Luma's download is now unpacked the right way, so the install goes through.
Inject DLSS is still experimental. It is for Unreal Engine games running on DirectX 11 only, and it has not been tested in a game yet. Do not use it in online games or games with anti-cheat.
AMDLSS 1.2.0
AMDLSS 1.2.0
Inject DLSS (experimental)
Some Unreal Engine games never call an upscaler, so there was nothing for AMDLSS to install in them. For those,
AMDLSS now places Luma's Unreal Engine mod and the HelixSR Scaler next to the game's .exe, and the DLSS call
Luma makes is the one HelixSR runs.
- The game shows the state DLSS injected (Luma UE). Its Upscaler row is greyed out, because such a game has
no upscaler entry of its own to pick. - Press Install. AMDLSS downloads Luma's own release (about 36 MB, SHA-256 checked) and the HelixSR Scaler
package, and places both next to the game's .exe. - In the game, press Home and set Upscaler/Super Resolution to DLSS in Luma's overlay. The game's
own menu has no upscaler entry.
This route is experimental and it has not been tested in a game yet. It is for Unreal Engine games that run in
DirectX 11 only, and AMDLSS cannot tell that from a game's files: some games need the -dx11 launch option for
it, and Luma's own wiki lists the games its authors have tried. Do not use it in online games or games with
anti-cheat.
Remove puts the game's own files back and takes everything AMDLSS placed out.
Fixes
- The advice to keep NVIDIA Reflex off was wrong and is gone: it is not what caused the trouble it warned about.
Keep frame generation away from online games and games with anti-cheat: the account can be banned.
AMDLSS 1.1.1
AMDLSS 1.1.1
Get DLSS 4 frame generation
- Open AMDLSS. If it shows Update HelixSR, press it and let it finish. It builds the frame generation and
downloads about 400 MB from NVIDIA the first time. - Select your game, pick DLSS 4 frame generation (HelixSR), experimental, and press Install or Update.
- In the game, pick DLSS, turn on DLSS Frame Generation and keep NVIDIA Reflex off.
Fixes
- Frame generation was never built if an older AMDLSS had installed HelixSR. AMDLSS now spots the old files
and offers Update HelixSR. The button is no longer greyed out while frame generation is missing. - Games could hang at launch because frame generation switched itself on. It now stays off unless you pick it.
- An older OptiScaler in the game folder could stop HelixSR from loading. AMDLSS now moves it into a backup
folder and puts it back when you press Remove. Nothing is deleted. - Black Myth: Wukong and similar Unreal games now get the frame generation choice.
- A finished install now says so in the log, and Send logs includes the HelixSR setup output.
Keep frame generation away from online games and games with anti-cheat: the account can be banned.

AMDLSS 1.1.0
Installing and updating HelixSR work again
HelixSR replaced its 1.9.0 download, so in AMDLSS 1.0.0 Install HelixSR and Update HelixSR failed with a
download error. AMDLSS now downloads the current file, so both work again.
The DLSS route uses HelixSR Scaler
HelixSR moved its OptiScaler version (HelixSR in games that only have DLSS, XeSS or FSR 2) into a separate download,
HelixSR Scaler. AMDLSS downloads it once with Install HelixSR (about 127 MB). It places the files next to the
game's .exe and keeps every game file it replaces. In the game you still pick DLSS and open OptiScaler's menu with
Insert.
Games you installed with AMDLSS 1.0.0 keep working. Update moves them to the current files. Remove puts the
game's original files back.
Choose your frame generation
In games that have DLSS Frame Generation, you can now pick the generator:
- AMD FSR frame generation: what AMDLSS did before.
- DLSS 4 frame generation (HelixSR), experimental: NVIDIA's DLSS 4 frame generation network running on your AMD
card. It makes one generated frame. HelixSR's setup builds it on your PC and downloads about 400 MB from NVIDIA
once; you are asked first. The choice is greyed out until those files are built.
Either way, turn on DLSS Frame Generation in the game and keep NVIDIA Reflex off. Switching the choice, or turning
frame generation off, puts your OptiScaler.ini back exactly as it was. If the DLSS 4 files go missing later,
Update turns frame generation off and tells you why.
Notes
- HelixSR upscales with DLSS "Model E" (the CNN model). There is no option for the DLSS 4 transformer model.
- DLSS 4 frame generation is new and untested in real games so far. Please report how it runs with Send logs.
AMDLSS 1.0.0
AMDLSS installs HelixSR (NVIDIA's DLSS network running on AMD cards) or AMD FSR 4.1.1 into your Direct3D 12 games, one game at a time, and takes it out again with one click. Nothing from HelixSR or NVIDIA is in these files. See the README.
This is the first full release.
What it does
- Finds your installed games (Steam, Epic, GOG, Xbox app and folders you add) and says for each one whether HelixSR and FSR 4.1.1 can run there, and why not when they can't.
- Installs, updates and removes the upscaler you pick per game, keeping the game's original files so Remove puts them back.
- FSR 4.1.1 on RX 9000 and RX 7000 with AMD's own DLL. On RX 6000 it uses the community build (FSR 4.1.1b or 4.0.2c INT8), which AMDLSS finds by itself in your games, Downloads, Desktop or Documents.
- Frame generation for games that only offer DLSS Frame Generation: it runs AMD's frame generation instead.
- Refuses games with anti-cheat, games that are running, and folders that hold more than one game.
- Send logs packs everything needed to look into a problem into one report.
Updating
AMDLSS offers new versions itself. Untick Beta versions if you only want full releases.
Known issues
- Linux: installing into a Proton game through AMDLSS has not been tried in a real game yet.
- Vulkan and DirectX 11 games are not covered.
- Not for online or anti-cheat games. The Windows exe is unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn.

AMDLSS 0.1.0-beta.17
AMDLSS: one-click HelixSR (NVIDIA's DLSS network on AMD cards) for Direct3D 12 games. Nothing from HelixSR or NVIDIA is in these files. See the README.
New in 0.1.0-beta.17: FSR 4.1.1
You can now pick FSR 4.1.1 instead of HelixSR for each game: select the game, set Upscaler to FSR 4.1.1, and press Install (or Update).
Which games: every card now says "FSR 4.1.1: yes" or "FSR 4.1.1: no" with the reason.
- Games with FSR 3.1: AMDLSS swaps the game's FSR file for FSR 4.1.1 and keeps the original. In the game, pick AMD FSR.
- Games with only DLSS or XeSS: AMDLSS installs OptiScaler and points it at FSR 4.1.1. In the game, pick DLSS (or XeSS), then press Insert and pick FSR 4.1.1 under FFX Upscaler.
- Never in games with anti-cheat. Vulkan and DirectX 11 games are not covered.
Which cards:
- RX 9000 and RX 7000: AMD's own FSR 4.1.1, which HelixSR already brought along. Nothing to download.
- RX 6000: AMD makes no FSR 4 for these cards. AMDLSS finds the community build (FSR 4.1.1b or 4.0.2c INT8) by itself if it is in one of your games, or in Downloads, Desktop or Documents; if it is still zipped, AMDLSS tells you to unpack it. Choose FSR 4 DLL picks one by hand.
- Other cards: not available (AMD's DLL would only run FSR 3.1.5).
Remove puts back whichever upscaler is installed. AMD's FidelityFX license is copied next to every AMD file AMDLSS installs.
This is new and has not been tried on every card yet.
Updating
Windows and Linux: AMDLSS offers this version itself while Beta versions is ticked.
Known issues
- Linux: a game install through AMDLSS (copying HelixSR into a Proton game) has not been tried in a real game yet.
- Not for online or anti-cheat games. The Windows exe is unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn.
