To run for your own server, you need to build first.

First, install dependencies :

npm install

Then build the bot :

npm run build

Then, you can start the bot :

npm start

You will need NodeJs 16.8.0+ to run BaptisteBot.

Try to create a discord server for testing before deploying to production.

How it works

BaptisteBot is a Node.js discord bot deployed to the cloud using this current repository's source code.

Any changes to the repository (using pull requests) will change the bot's behaviour instantly.

You don't have to handle environnement variables, dependencies or api keys.

To submit a change to baptiste bot, just submit a pull request on GitHub.

How to submit a pull request

1. Fork this repository.

2. Clone your repo.

3. Make your changes to a new branch and push to your forked repo.

4. Go back to your fork's repo. A green button will show "Submit Pull Request". Click it, add a description and submit your PR.

Testing and debugging before pull request

1. Follow this guide to setup a bot in your own discord server

2. Clone the repository (you will need NodeJs 16.8.0+ to run BaptisteBot).

3. Browse into the cloned repository.

4. Create a new file called .env - In this file, add the line API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY_HERE.

5. Run npm i. You only need to run this once per session.

6. Run npm start. When the bot's ready to answer commands, the terminal will show Prêt.
