Hi is it possible to use a Nema 17 motor 0.4N.M?

Not recommended.

A Nema 17 with 0.4 N·m torque is generally too weak for this application.
In a lead screw setup (like 1610 / 1605), it may not provide enough thrust and can easily lose steps under load.

Stringing requires stable and consistent pulling force, and sudden load changes are common — a smaller motor will struggle to maintain accuracy.

For badminton stringing, the SGX series linear stage with a standard Nema 23 (57 motor) is the most reliable setup.

If you're interested in experimenting or developing your own design, you can try it — but for a stable and proven setup, it's recommended to stick with SGX + Nema 23.

I saw there was another sgx1610 with a nema23 motor but unfortunately it doesn't ship to the US. 😔

You can still try the Nema 17 (0.4 N·m) and see what its limits are in your setup.

If it doesn’t work well, getting a Nema 23 motor separately is not very expensive.

Just one more question. My stupid self ordered the active low level trigger buzzer by mistake. I am ordering the high level one now. But will it cause an issue if I remove the buzzer and use it without a buzzer? Everything else has been tested through ep 1-3 and working. So I just need to put it all together now.

Yes, that's fine.

The machine can operate normally without the buzzer. You simply won't hear the beep notifications.

You can install the correct high-level trigger buzzer later when it arrives.
