What's Changed

• Fix multiple bugs that may require a user to re-enter their license key on startup (if you ever have to re-enter your license key after this release, please start a discussion!)
• Allow users to re-enter a different email when requesting a trial if they did not receive the license key email (sometimes blocked on iCloud email domains and some work email domains)
• When updating to a new version, don't open the DMG until Fregata has fully shut down
• Prevent users from adding whitespace to their environment variables and also retroactively fix this issue for users that currently have whitespace in their environment variables
• Fix YOLOv9 license plate detector model running incorrectly, resulting in spammy log messages
• Prevent Frigate's empty directory deletion from deleting empty directories that are actually needed
• Fix a bug where Frigate could silently stop writing logs
• Make sure all processes from a prior run are killed on startup of a new run
• Move license files out of the CONFIG directory to a stable directory that is the same on every install
• Prevent users from setting their config directory WITHIN their media directory or media directory WITHIN their config directory
• On an existing installation, stop and ask the user if they want to create a new config.yaml and frigate.db before doing so, when these files are not found, in case they changed settings as a mistake
• Fix some diagnostic bundle paths that were gathering irrelevant information
• Try to workaround an upstream go2rtc bug that could cause go2rtc to crash in rare circumstances

Coming Soon - Frigate v0.18-beta1 & Frigate v0.18-beta2

• Frigate recently released the first Beta for the massive upcoming v0.18 release and we've been hard at work integrating the changes ever since. We're nearing release of our own v0.18-beta1 and we will quickly follow with the v0.18-beta2 release that was just made public today by Frigate. We wanted to get these bugs in the v0.17.X line fixed first.

• We have both added features to Frigate itself, and fixed security issues, that were pushed upstream and accepted by the Frigate developers. These are included in the v0.18 line and we are excited to see them land for all Frigate users, even those not running Fregata.

• ⚠️ Beta releases are, well, betas. Issues and bugs have already been reported for Frigate's v0.18-beta1. Many things have changed, and not everything works. There is an additional risk that the new code was not merged perfectly and could cause Fregata-specific bugs. Betas are recommended for technical users that can spot bugs and report them.

• Fregata's update checker will not notify you of Beta releases, by design. If you are interested in running the Betas, keep an eye on this Releases page or enable notifications by clicking "Watch > Custom > Releases" on this repository to get an immediate email notification from GitHub when new releases are published.
