Remote access would be a big feature, as the current solution does not have an easy answer to remote. |

We're going to get started on this. No timeline for a release yet. We'll have betas available before it lands on the App Store. Keep the feature ideas coming. If there is something specific you want to see around notifications, timeline view, clip viewing, or anything else, tell us. Pointing out what you do and do NOT like from other NVR apps is also helpful. The earlier a feature request/idea is posted here, the more likely it is that it will land in the earlier versions. |

I'm probably not your target audience (I will be running HA, with Fregata integrated in the traditional way). I'll probably use your app anyway (why not?) With that, some early thoughts. (Push) Notifications are obviously the killer feature. The question here is how specific/selective this will be, and which part is app-specific (vs. Frigate-general). I think the core user loop is "get notification, take a quick look at the video (birdseye? event stream?), optionally scrube the stream (but not far away), optionally take some quick notes for later (mark images for face recognition, etc.), and move on". This is not a "deep" app, and I think I'd prefer its UI to be as light as possible, rather than a full rendition of Frigate capabilities. Expose semantic search. Expose the (0.18+) GenAI chat mode, with good history/template/edit features to cut down on typing. Consider talk-to-type. Deeply consider how this app can hook into the iOS intents and search systems. "Siri, show me my front door". "Siri, find blue cars in Fregata". Think deeply about shortcuts integration. "If Fedex delivers a package, text my wife" should be a shortcut flow, not an app feature. Please, please, pretty please: make a watch app. The light loop above works just fine on a watch. Let me set up specific filters for notifications: "UPS has delivered a package", not "There's someone at your door". Happy to do that in the Frigate Web UI (with Frigate+ for the UPS part). Notification fatigue is the killer. I'd like to receive push notifications of GenAI narrations matching text patterns, ideally combined with filters on types of objects recognized. The two layers don't talk to each other much in Frigate today, and combining them helps with selectivity. Can this integrate with Frigate's "Trigger" almost-feature? Should it? (Should Frigate triggers have configure backends?...) Muting/disabling a camera is a good (if rarely used) feature. ("The cleaners are on today. Don't tell me about stuff at the front door.") Ideally with a timed reset, though that smells like a Frigate feature, not an app feature. How to get the video out of my (private, heavily firewalled) Fregata server is a good question. Reflectors are the typical answer, but if you make a free app you'll need to find a way to pay for those. My phone is usually wireguard-VPNed into my network, but I'm not your typical audience. Do you want to forward the camera-view UI from Frigate (modified Web View) or build your own? Making history-scrubbing feel iOS-quality smooth will be hard with a web interface. Consider preloading adjacent video segments for latency. Good thing you already have adaptive stream bandwidth... :) That's all I've got. So far... |

The iOS app landscape for Fregata & Frigate is pretty bleak, and we're considering changing that.
We have iOS developers on staff that we think could put together something great. Essentially everyone that works on Fregata uses the Frigate WebUI pinned to their home screen with notifications routed through Home Assistant. But not everyone uses Home Assistant (and it requires setup), and using the Frigate Web UI on mobile is fine, but not great.
We're thinking:
If this is something you'd like to see, let us know below. If you have specific features you'd like to see, tell us that too. If we take this project on, we want to build what YOU want to see in the perfect iOS Fregata/Frigate viewer.
