Firewood

A block used to provide heat, which can also serve as a purely decorative element.

Mechanics

Ignition & Extinguishing Conditions

  • A firewood pile, formed by stacking firewood twice, can be ignited.
  • Requirement: The 6 blocks directly above must be air; otherwise, it cannot be lit.
  • An already burning firewood pile will be forcibly extinguished if the air space above is blocked.

Burning Process

  • Max Burn Time: Half a Minecraft day (6000 game ticks).
  • Light Level: Emits a light level of 15 while burning.
  • Particles: Produces a small amount of smoke.
  • Refueling: Adding more firewood while burning restores 50% of the maximum burn time. This cannot exceed the original maximum duration.

Post-Burning & State Changes

  • When burn time ends, the pile extinguishes.
  • Breaking an extinguished pile drops 1-2 Charcoal.
  • Important: Extinguished piles cannot be re-lit.
  • Visual Change: Appearance becomes charred when remaining burn time drops below 50%. Refueling does not fully restore the original appearance.

Heat Levels

The firewood pile operates at two heat levels, which affect heat transfer to other blocks:

Burn Time Remaining Heat Level Effect
> 50% High Provides more heat
≤ 50% Low Provides less heat
