@Vk9758 Well youtube used to serve DASH streams that contain 2 streams video-only and audio-only + a muxed stream (that has both video and audio in the same file), but they also have a protocol they developed themselves called SABR (server adaptive bitrate) that they use in their apps. As to why they need to enforce it and remove the old DASH streams, i honestly can't give an answer to that as i myself don't know why they are doing it, but if i were to guess, i think it is a way to block AD-Blockers, downloader (like yt-dl) or 3rd party clients such as Flow, Newpipe etc.. as in the past years they were fighting aggressively against them and even blocking users that use Ad-blockers from watching videos on the youtube website. |
