An Open-Source Laundry Pod Formulation Project Led by Unimasses
Mission
OpenPods is an open-source initiative led by Unimasses to build a transparent, verified, and continuously evolving knowledge base for laundry pod formulations.
The project aims to provide publicly accessible formulation data, laboratory validation results, manufacturing guidance, and performance benchmarks for water-soluble detergent pods. By making foundational formulations and experimental data openly available, OpenPods helps shorten product development cycles, reduce technical barriers, and accelerate innovation across the detergent industry.
Why OpenPods?
Today, much of the detergent pod industry operates as a "black box." Critical information regarding formulation design, ingredient functions, performance testing, and manufacturing optimization is often proprietary and inaccessible to new entrants.
This lack of transparency creates several challenges:
