| Cryptocurrency wouldn't help either and could even be a benefit for devs to scam off buyers (Making a $0.01 refund to remove the buyer from list) which would cause more moderation actions from Spigot's end. | ||
| ### Fact 3: New Payment options wouldn't solve everything | ||
| Multiple people demanded more payment options such as Stripe or even Crypto-currency as it would make things more easy. | ||
| Services like Stripe still require an age-verification including an ID-verification similar to PayPal's in order to use the service as a seller. On the other hand, stripe would make it possible to buy from the age of 13 by simply having a debit card. Not everyone wants to have a separate account just for purchasing resources, stripe would therefore be an excellent solution to avoid people having to create a paypal account (which requires you to be 18). Cryptocurrencies would be an excellent means of offering a free and privacy-friendly alternative, but it would probably be little used, would cost a lot of money in transaction fees, and could make litigation procedures more complicated for users. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
This honestly sounds like ass-kissing for Stripe as if it was the ultimate and perfect alternative, so I won't accept it as that here as it clearly has its limitations and issues.
Additionally does the sentence "stripe would therefore be an excellent solution to avoid people having to create a paypal account (which requires you to be 18)." give the impression that I (since it's my blog) would encourage minors to buy stuff online which may not be allowed.

Thanks for the ideas, but won't merge. Main reason is mentioned in my change request, which is that your text sounds like as if Stripe is the ultimate solution to use and literally perfect, while in reality it suffers from issues such as it being in less countries available (Compared to PayPal), apparently allows minors to buy stuff online, therefore encouraging possible illegal purchases (They just need to get a hold of their parents debit card) and it overall is just not sounding good. Again, thanks for the changes, but no. |
Indeed, I think stripe is a good solution. It's not perfect but to put things in context:
I am not asking you to accept my PR but at least to correct the false statement you make: "buying plugins with stripe would require an additional account". I understand that you are angry with people who have not been respectful with you on the spigot thread. Even if I agree, like them, with the addition of stripe, I do not endorse their messages. Here it is no longer about opinions but about facts. Thank you, |
Hello there,
I saw your message on spigot and your proposal to do a PR to improve the article. I made two comments:
The first one corrects an inaccuracy about stripe (the fact that stripe doesn't require accounts to buy, unlike paypal) and details the problems with cryptomoney.
The second adds my name and that of two of my developer friends, who were banned from Paypal without further explanation. I think this could give a broader perspective.
If you have any suggestions or special requests, please do not hesitate, I would be happy to help you.
Sincerely,
Thomas
